Best dinner in Alp D'Huez

11 of went there for the hotel maid's night off. Booked on advice of TripAdvisor, great decision. Most of us had the 3-course meal for Euros 25 each. Steak was particularly excellent. Staff were most helpful and atmosphere was happy. Place was full by 8pm, largely French, always a good sign... read more

After reading about the restaurant we decided to search it out. We located the Au Montagnard after searching the street and found it by accident on the opposite side of the road at the entrance to a small shopping mall. We went in and asked for a table for two for the following night (Weds 3rd Feb). Once inside we... More

This little restaurant is a gem. Found after looking at lots of menu boards and in plenty of windows we made the right choice by going into this small authentic place. Great hosting by a charming lady we had a variety of great dishes at very reasonable prices. Plenty of atmosphere and frenchness this place comes highly recommended by the... More

We were looking for a restaurant for the non inclusive night of our holiday. I am glad we chose Au Montagnard. The friendly welcome, lovely food and great service all made for a terrific experience. Two courses cost 22 euros per person and the food was first class. We didn't book but by 8pm the restaurant was full. You won't... More

Visited here on 2 occasions on 8 and 9 January. Had the cheese fondue on the first occasion which was superb. Staff very friendly and engaging and despite being very busy service was extremely efficient . Would highly recommend .

If only we had discovered this restaurant on the first day. We had a leisurely lunch here. The service was very friendly and absolutely no rush to finish our meal. The food tastes wonderful and is great value. The onion soup and vegetables soup are superb. The steak with red wine is divine. The tariflette and cheeseburger were delicious. A... More

Came across this by accident in a rather unlovely shopping centre but was simply excellent. Prix fixe menu was really good. Six of us ate for under 120 euros. The waiting staff were excellent. Service with a smile that seemed very genuine. Best meal we have had in a ski resort

What a superb find! The hostess at Au Montagnard and the waiting staff make you feel very welcome indeed and the result is a first class dining experience. Every meal was explained and French terms clarified and when we returned (twice more!) we were made to feel like old friends. The food itself was a mixture of Savoie classics and... More

Superb meal and wine to be had here. We read all the reviews and the accolades are well deserved. The staff are friendly and efficient, food superb and the wine list is extremely good value. Despite being full after starter and mains we ploughed on and managed to get desserts in. Just a delight to visit from beginning to end

Having trailed around most Alpe D'Huez restaurants, this seemed to have the best value and most interesting set menu. It certainly lived up to expectations. 25 euros for three courses (or 22 for two). The goat's cheese salad and French onion soup were both excellent. We both had steak for main - and these were outstanding! The creme brulee was... More
