We where here our first night in Alpe d'Huez and where so pleased with both food and service that we went back a second time and had Pirrad which is meat that you fry on a hot stone. Settings where good size and great taste. We where the only non French in a full but small cosy restaurant.

We received a very warm welcome. We enjoyed a three course meal which included one of their specialities which was called Rebloche au four du charbon du bois. This involved having a small wood fired oven placed on our table in order for us to melt our Reblochon cheese, to eat with the new potatoes and cold saucisson and dried... More

We visited this restaurant last week during a weeks holiday and on the chalet's night off. It was excellent great food, service was second to done and the restaurant was decorated in a traditional manner. We had the the 3 course set menu for 25euros and was worth it. Would highly recommend everyone who is staying Alpe D'Huez to try... More

This is a really lovely little restaurant. Cosy and quaint inside with incredibly welcoming staff. Food was good with an excellent range of dishes on offer. We tried to go again but restaurants in L'Alpe d'Huez get filled up very quickly so its an idea to book if you're going out between 7 and 9.30 (in the skiing season). We... More

Au Montagnard has some very authentiic home cooking. The staff was very welcoming and the food was delicious. CAn't remeber the dish name I had, but it was essentially ham, cheese and potatoes, which was what the doc ordered after riding up Alpe d'Huez! Salad was great and the beer was cold! Great place.

We are about to visit this restaurant for the third time in a week! The staff are very welcoming and friendly and speak good English. Starters included meat plates and onion soup. We found the onion soup stunning! For main courses we had a traditional meat fondue. The fondue itself had great flavour and was served with a selection of... More

Would highly recommend this lovely little restaurant in Alpe D'Huez. The staff were extremly welcoming and friendly. Most diners were eating traditional dishes like fondue or raclette which the restaurant specialises in. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Gourand food you are not going to get in Alpe D'Huez, but Au Montagnard services good home style cooking, nothing special but service with feeling and intelligent engagement. Our mixed party of young children, young adults, adults and oldies posed some challenges but the response was great!
