Nice looking place

Perhaps one of the more up-market looking restaurants overlooking the port and certainly one of the best for food. Not the friendliest service but the 32 euro 'menu' was first class.

This restaurant was recommended by a local resident and we found it excellent. We went for the boulliabaisse and they prepare it with 5 types of fish. It was excellent and the service top notch too. And unlike other restaurants where you need a minimum of 2 people for this dish, here they would prepare for one. The only drawback... More

Gilbert is surrounded by tourist traps, but this place serves excellent food, very well presented and in large portions as well. Chose shellfish starters (couteaux et coquillages) and a roasted fish (dorade royale) and you will be delighted. Service is excellent, with a touch of the local humor and nonchalance. They will recommend a local white wine you will enjoy.... More

The restaurant is located in the picturesque harbour of Cassis. In summer nice terrace directly at waterfront. For dinner the tables are covered with linen. Lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed a 3 course meal for €32 each. First course tuna tartare with a cream of green tea, which tasted just after cream, strange combination. Main course grilled fish and very nice... More

Chez Gilbert was recommended to us by the Hotel we were staying at. The restaurant is well situated with good scenery in the harbour. Sadly the main course (lotte) was simple not edible. It tasted like old frozen fish to us, which in addition was badly prepared by the chef. This ruined our dinner, which included an appetizer and dessert... More

We had dinner at Chez Gilbert 3 times during our 2 week stay in Cassis. Every time the service was excellent, the food delicious and especially the bouillabaisse very very nice.

Best place to go for good bouillabaisse in Cassis. Join some of the local Cassis white wine and your lunch or your dinner is almost perfect. Small comment, according to my colleague the soup was almost too intense - or to salty Restaurant in the port of Cassis so the view is what you want. Service is friendly and timings... More

We are here twice during our stay in Cassis. The food was delicious and if you have a set menu, reasonably priced (considering some pricing in this area). The mint mi cuit was a highlight for me! The service is not particularly fast but I think that's true of the South of France generally

One of many restaurants on the quay in Cassis, I choose this place as it's well known for bouillabaisse and is a membre de la chatre so I thought they might do a good fish soup. I wasn't disappointed the fish soup was as good as it gets and of course served with saffron rouille and Gruyere cheese. The main... More

Cassis is known for it's bouillabaisse, and this is the place to go for it - outstanding!!!!! Not inexpensive, but worth every penny. White tablecloths. OK, but not great service. My wife had fish which was very good. Matched with a bottle of good local white wine, this meal can't be beat.
