Three unusually large and over cooked Rouget fillets that tasted of nothing. I expected the small Briney iodine tasty ones of old. They must be farming rougets now!

Our hotel recommended Chez Gilbert & we were not disappointed by our choice. Nice location on the harbour & comfortable seating arrangements. We chose the €29 menu with fish soup & melon + parma ham as starters followed by the Dorade & then exquisite desserts. The service was endearingly pleasant & the whole ambience of the restaurant excellent. My only... More

Nice atmosphere, very effective staff. Received at first amuse bush that was not very tasty. As first plate eat langoustine and salmon tartar. Both portions vere excellent. Tha main dish duck was very good, but the st Jacques was disappointing, not extracting from it the wander full tastes it usually offers. The deserts were also mediocre

Broth at the bottom of the plates, fish butchered behind the scenes, pour broth late, unhurried service, higher price tag, in general league bouillabaisse is felt in many ways :)

We visited this restaurant with our 3 year old in a push chair. We waited several minutes for acknowledgement but were ignored: So we resorted to flagging down the waiter to gain recognition. We asked if we could sit at one of the empty tables outside, but were told only inside was available. However we observed that several couples were... More

The food was superb. The bouillabaisse was outstanding. We asked to share a serving due to the amount of food but the request was declined. The service was professional but cool, not nearly as friendly as other nearby restaurants. Good local wines. Expensive.

My fiancee and I had a great boullaibaise tonight! Great service too, very friendly and professional staff. We live in NYC and are used to dining very often to top Manhattan restaurants. So, we arenkt easily impressed by good food and service. Cassis is also a lovely place!

The restaurant is located right on the waterfront with a gorgeous view. Since we were on a group tour to visit Marseille and Cassis, we only had a very short hour. The waiters were nice enough to accomodate us and even speeded up the service (thanks to our guide). The appetizer was shrimp in a small glass with pesto mousee.... More

We have been coming to Cassis every year since 1990 and we have eaten at Chez Gilbert on every visit. We are stuck in the rut when it comes to the menu: Daurade Grille and/or Bouillabaisse. No one does either of them better in our opinion and we have tried every restaurant over the years (there is very little turn-over... More

We came here specifically to try the bouillabaisse. The proprietor explained the difference between traditional bouillabaisse and several of its evolutionary forms. I was particularly interested in the preparation of this dish since my French forefathers had settled in the Louisiana area of the USA and created Gumbo as an American version of bouillabaisse. My partner and I had a... More
