I went there with my folks as they live locally to the area and I highly recommend it. Nice intimate setting and a simple but lovely menu which changes daily and wonderful wine to match from a huge selection as it's also a wine shop. It was that good we went back twice. Good times 😃

I found this small place in the center of Saintes and loved the food so much, I went back a few days later for another meal. Fresh, interesting and beautifully cooked plat du jour washed down with a great rose. Well worth a visit if you are in town.

A great find right in the middle of the Saintes old town. We sat outside and watched people wandering around and enjoying the sunshine. The menu was set with two choices of entree and one plat and dessert. An excellent wine was recommended to go with the food. The food was very good and the service quick and friendly. The... More

The place is small, hundreds (or is it thousands?) of bottles of wine are lined along the walls. This is a wine shop, and also a fixed menu restaurant. The three course menu offers seasonal dishes that are really delicious and good value. The service is efficient and unpretentous, please listen to the landlord's recommendations for wine: he knows what... More

We found this restaurant quite by accident and were very glad we did. A small menu but very well chosen and cooked, a young waitress who was charming and very knowledgable of the many inexpensive wines on offer. It's set in a pedestrian only area so sitting outside is no problem, we passed a very enjoyable couple of hours there.... More

We had a three course lunch which started with lovely fresh salads followed by salmon choucroute and an iced lemon meringue for dessert. We drank an excellent Entre Deux Mers at 3 Euros per glass, as recommended by the waitress and with a lemon tea to finish the bill came to less than 50 euros. There is a set menu... More

This very small restaurant is located on a pedestrian-only street in the historic shopping district of Saintes. It is actually a wine shop, but has added a kitchen to offer a fixed menu lunch at a very reasonable price for a three course meal (about 12-14 euros). The food quality is excellent, but what is special about La Cave is... More
