Food is very good. Service was adequate, they were very busy and just coping. A good location by the marina - except. We had to sit outside and there was a cool breeze blowing. Blankets are provided so obviously a not an uncommon problem.

Arriving, with our French resident friends, a little late for lunch wec were nevertheless found a table quite quickly. There were a couple of dishes no longer available ,possibly testimony to the freshness of the food ,its local source and the bistrot's popularity at lunch time, but the alternative were cooked well and presented nicely. The staff were very friendly and... More

My wife and I spent a day exploring Rochefort. We visited the Musee National de la Marine (a most interesting museum). When we were finished we asked an employee at the desk where we could find a nice restaurant to have lunch. He recommended Restaurant le Cap Nell. We walked there and were very happily surprised. We are vegetarians and... More

Situated at one end of the port it's a very comfortable place to enjoy a meal al fresco in good weather. The food is good with reasonably priced set menus and a friendly service. It's arguably better than the alternative port restaurant O'Gabier but that's down to personal preference.

Annual pilgrimage again, discovered this restaurant many years ago and visit after I have seen the Frigate Hermione and The Cordery Royal. An excellent lunch, well served and Lavender Ice cream to die for. Loads of parking nearby around a pound for three hours and the yacht harbour and buildings are a feast for the eyes. A great day out... More

The food was good and well presented, the staff friendly and helpful, the location (on the marina) very nice, although in October we ate indoors. We had a very nice evening, until I was double charged on the bill (My fault being distracted and not checking). We had to return to the UK early the next morning and so far,... More

This restaurant was recommended by our Chambre d"Hote owner. It is one of the few open on a Sunday/Monday evening. It is located next to the marina so plenty to watch! The menus were good value and the food was excellent. Our waitress was lovely, very cheerful and helpful. There was a choice of menus and a good variety of... More

1st recommendation by our hosts at our B & B, especially as it was Sunday. My wife had duck breast and I had mackerel fillets. Very good traditional French food. I had six fillets and would have preferred them cooked more simply but they were very good and all went!

We stopped off in Rochefort enroute to Royan and came across this restaurant totally by accident. I enjoyed the special of the day - mackerel, whilst my husband had local mussels with frites - both were delicious. The service was prompt and efficient. My only complaint was that I was pressed against an over large pot plant as the restaurant... More
