GROTTY AREA GREAT RESTAURANT

This was recommend by a friend as a good place to eat near the ferry. Menu for meat lovers but I did find some nice fish. All presented so lovely and unusual but portions were very large. Worth a visit

We were thrilled to start our holiday in France with dinner at Le Grand Bleu, which our hosts at the Villa Vent d'Bout recommended. Located by the harbour near the ferry terminal a short distance from the Place d'Armes the food is prepared to a high quality and with great style. The service is likewise excellent.

Amazing food experience, such an exceptional taste and presentation of the meals! Fresh fish, extraordinary and delicious combinations and not to mention the selection of wines! Do not miss the mango wrap with crispy bacon, which accompanied the tempura gambas! My choice for lieu of the day over black risotto-yummy! And the lady waitress (sorry, I do not know her... More

We chose the €30 meal option which included a starter, main and dessert. What we then discovered, was that this chic little place actually included an amuse bouche and, a pre-dessert dessert. So it was five courses for €30. The portions were huge for a Michelin style meal. Very tasty, unusual and filling. Starters were fantastic. The main was a... More

Came here twice 10 years ago when the local fishermen would dine here... it has been significantly upgraded as far as fixture and fittings are concerned but that is not really important. My wife and I had a tremendous Sunday lunch here today - served with a smile and good humour and yes with a nice wine and service it... More

We visited this restaurant a few years ago and found the food interesting although the staff who served us were rather typically cool and disinterested. We visited again yesterday on the recommendation of a member of staff at Majestic Calais and found the reverse. The staff including Cindy, who may be the owner, pleasant and welcoming initially. We ordered our... More

We arrived nearly half an hour early on a cold blustery day just before Christmas - no problem to the restaurant which was full, including an office party of about 20 people (anglo-french company by the sounds of it - happy but not rowdy) so we were concerned that service would be slow or the staff distracted. But service was... More

We each had three courses from the 30 euro menu which included 2 free dishes , starting with red cabbage soup with cheese mousse which was surprisingly acceptable, the escargot starter included a lot of extras, a deep fried pastry base, salami and mushrooms, foam. The most interesting was perhaps the macron desert which had lemon sorbet, mint, grapefruit, vanilla... More

We arrived at 2pm on a Tuesday and we're told we could eat but no starters. Despite that they did bring a delicious foamy mushroom soup/mousse first. Dad chose snails which arrived in an alarmingly green foam but which he seemed to enjoy. I had the pork which was beautifully served three ways. Lovely half bottle of Bordeaux went down... More
