We spotted almost by chance that the Retroviseur had several vegetarian options on the menu, rare indeed for a restaurant offering French cuisine - we like to encourage this so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed in the assiette végétarienne (a mixture of deliciously cooked vegetable and salad leaves with a potato gratin) and the célèbre fermier... More

We spent quite some time wandering around the sights of Amiens looking for a reasonably priced evening meal before settling on Le Retrovisieur. Usefully the venue offered a menu in English although we weren't aware of this until we sat down. It took a while to be served initially but once we were welcomed the service was good from then... After being rudely turned away by an empty restaurant on the other wide of the river we stopped for a drink here, and were pleasantly surprised so moved inside for our meal. The outside seating was full of young people smoking so inside was a nice quieter space. The waitress was friendly and chatted to us about the Australian war... More

Good genuine French bistro cuisine. Service slow. Busy in good location though. Wine was brought already opened.

We found le Retroviseur on our second night. An authentic (or carefully crafted?) French bistrot/restaurant - if you're British think Café Rouge, but authentic. However range and quality of food far better and lots of local people eating in it. Service a little slow, but not catatonically so. Four of us tried a variety of starters, mains and deserts and... Very popular by students, Bar type restaurant with nice French atmosphere and typical French cuisine. On thursdays they have usualy live music (Jazz style) and it gets croweded. The issue with this restaurant is that the quality of the food drops when the restaurant is crowded. So , just go there when you easily can get a table, when crowed... More

Visited the Retroviseur for the first time tonight. It is right next to the river in the popular St Leu district. It was a fine sunny evening and enjoying a beer by the river was enjoyable so I decided to eat there. Service started at 7.30 and I had just received my dessert course by 9.15. Although the food was... More

It's a great choive for dinner. The food is very well presented, and delicious. The wine was good and the decor is very nice as well. Would go back and recommend to friends.

This place is probably the best of the numerous bars / restaurants /cafes in the Rue des Bondes , in the St Leu quarter . It is very much a student scene in this area - vibrant and busy . While there is generally better dining the other side of the canal, this place holds its own in terms of... More
