Incredibly good surprise

Even the fact that the service was painfully slow couldn't stop me giving it a 5. Vire is incredibly lucky to have a restaurant of this standard. The setting and rooms are extremely well-decorated - intimate yet modern. A luscious bar to wait for your table or where to have a digestif... read more

The setting and rooms are extremely well-decorated - intimate yet modern. A luscious bar to wait for your table or where to have a digestif afterwards. The food was almost of Michelin star... More

I found this restaurant reading other reviews on Tripadvisor and having had favourable feedback decided to visit. I thought the restaurant was lovely ( an earlier reviewer thought the renovations were in bad taste). Having seen our fair share of French interiors, I can honestly say this one rates as rather stylish. A beautiful refurbishment. We were met with a... More

This restaurant is in the countryside on the Flers road out of Vire and occupies the back side of a substantial stone house with a large conservatory built on from which you have a pleasant view of the garden and the trees and countryside beyond. The tables and chairs are French interior designer modern, ie new, ugly but very comfortable... More

This would have been classed as a 'taster' in the past. A micromeal to say the least. Had it all been on one plate (and it would have fitted) we could have eaten the lot in 10 minutes or less. It took 3 hours or more and had I know that the portions would be so minuscule for Christmas lunch,... More

Holidaying in a Gite in Vire, we found this restaurant in a "Guide des Restaurants du Calvados". It was certainly a find. The welcome was sincere and the evening went on from there. The food was wonderful with a well balanced, interesting choice of courses. The wine list was varied and the prices reasonable for the quality offered. At the... More

This is a very nice restaurant in a rural setting. We had a lovely dinner after sightseeing all day. It wasn't at all crowded and the waiter was more that attentive and friendly. The only downside, which wasn't really a problem for us, was that the opening time stated was 7PM. We arrived at 7:25 to find the place deserted.... More

Very nice restaurant in an old agricultural estate. Despite this setting, the delicious cooking is more modern than traditionnal. Cheap set menu for lunch (19 euros), a bit more expensive for dinner (+/- 30 to 40 euros). Nice wines, mainly from Burgundy and the Loire valley. They have some rooms as well (but I did not test them). A lovely... More

We dined here two days after Christmas and were understandably the only guests in the restaurant. Despite that the service was very pleasant and the food was excellent. The room is tastefully and warmly decorated. They also offer a takeaway service for some items and we ordered a couple of desserts to pick up a few days later-they were exquisite,... More

We visited this lovely restaurant to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The food and wine were excellent with many little extras provided, compliments of the chef. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and the chef came to speak to us at the end of the meal. Our dessert plates were decorated to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary which... More

I have lived near Vire for over five years and have just discovered this amazing restaurant, what a wonderful find it is. Easy to find and set back from the main road in a delightful garden surrounded by mature trees, this typically French house is a place for serious eating, so if you want checkered cloths and candle in bottles...
