Service, food was good, but lacked atmosphere due to shortage of customers but it was Thursday before All Souls' Day and at the end of October.

Staying in the Mercure on our way back from the Loire, Alençon is a favourite stopping off point. Le Hotel De Paris, by the station was closed for annual holiday, so we stayed here and next d'or, sorry for the pun, is this lovely little restaurant. Unpretentious, with friendly and knowledgable staff, it certainly delivers on all fronts. Excellent food,... More

Dined tonight at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and superb service. We chose from the €33 menu and had a crab and grapefruit starter, fish and a lemon tart. The flavours and presentation were superb. Would highly recommend.

The restaurant has had a complete "make-over" - gone is the olde French family room atmosphere and in comes the trendier styling. The quality of the refurb is very high - and if you are a first-timer it does not matter. I liked the old style as it created a rare atmosphere. However, time moves on and so do we... More

we were on our way to Bordeaux in 2011 and the only hotel we could get was the Mercule as Le Mans was on and they did not food but recommended this restaurant next door. We loved it so much we ate there on the way back. Very traditional olde french, very flavoursome indeed and very friendly staff. We are... More

We came here as it was recommended by our b&b hostess as being inexpensive but serving good french fare. She was right. we liked dinner here.

We were late booking into Mercure in Alencon on our way home and asked them to recommend a restaurant which happened to be the one next door. We arrived just before last orders and were treated regally with no sense of urgency. Complimentary starters came before the main course which was a superb steak beautifully cooked. Coffee was served with... More

We recently paid our third visit to this restaurant while staying next door at the Mercure Hotel on Saturday 23rd June. We were looking forward to a really good evening there to finish our holiday and had booked a table three weeks before. Very disappointing - standards have certainly slipped, merely waved to any table, not given a menu for... More

This restaurant built a big reputation in years past, but nowadays the food is only slightly above average, service is cold and impersonal and menus overpriced.

This is just out of the main town but next to the Hotel Mercure; it is mentioned in many reviews of that hotel on this site (but strangely not reviewed in its own right). The food and service are of an exceptionally high standard. There are a number of set-price menus, which offer good value; although not “cheap”, but good... More
