stayed in the hotel, and can't fault any part of the stay. Specifically re restaurant, plenty of choice and local food, prepared in front on roasting spite.

Booked a room late for an Easter Sunday dinner/stopover en route to Sweden. The quaint medieval hotel is however filled with aging tatt - a good interior designer could work wonders. A friendly reception showed us to the €85 room, in the eaves of the building. The bathroom was located up steep stairs on a mezzanine with a sit bath... More

Arrived here on someone else's recommendation. Plenty of parking just around the corner. Very good atmosphere, amazing architecture - except mind the twisted ankles on the cobbled floors. We sat at a long bench type table on 'pews' in good viewing distance of the barbecue/open fire. Most of us had the pork (as in the photos) and it was excellent.... More

You do not expect to have such a restaurant in such a city like Valenciennes, but voila! Nice ambient, very special. Take one of the tables close to the fire to see the cook working. Great meat on the barbeque

One of my work colleges has used this hotel to stay in previous trips. We decided to use the restaurant facilities. A very well set up establishment. We sat out in the court yard which is recommended if it’s fine. I ordered the steak with yellow mushrooms. I asked for medium and it came medium. A beautiful steak and the... More

Beautifully decorated restaurant spoiled by rude staff, management and inferior food. Do not even think about it if you are a vegetarian. One in our party does not eat meat. We booked and asked in advance if this was a problem and advised that it was not....... I said "vegetarian" not rabbit! The suckling pig (the very reason we booked)... More

We ate here by recommendation of our B&B owner (La Frenaie in Estreux) and were happy we did. Good food, neat setting, great smell coming from the pig on the spit!

This really old coaching inn is located in the middle of a traffic island in Valenciennes. The town does not have much going for it, but the Auberge makes up for it. The whole place is higgledy-piggledy, with not a level surface anywhere. The rooms are oddly shaped and quirky. Our bathroom needed modernising and the hot water ran out... More

Right in the centre of the town and a real atmospheric place. Had the speciality suckling pig cooked on the open fireplace which was very tasty. We did not choose a starter but were given complimentary sorbets which were delicious. Not cheap but definitely different.

Uneven cobblestone floors, brick walls and a perferct middle age atmosphere: add a really good menu with some amazing food cooked on the authentic old fireplace in the middle of the room and you get a great place for a nice dinner! The local specialties have to be tried (lucullus, grilled suckling pig...) but everything I tried so far is... More
