Good food served well

Not a cheap option but some very impressive cooking which comes at a price. Been many times and will come back.

Had a very un-inspiring lunch here. Indifferent service and overpriced meal. Vegetarian option was an omelette. Only highlight was the desert.

The service is attentive without being obtrusive, and we received a warm welcome. The dining room is small but elegant and the space between tables is sufficient for privacy. The food is delightful. We had lobster followed by turbot. However our aperitif came with cheese straws, little Parmesan biscuits and an intriguing salmon flavoured macaroon, which was lovely. The came... More

We visited on Saturday in July, the service we faultless the in between courses were amazing, mains not so.I ordered faux fillet steak thinking it would be sirloin but I would really like to know what cut it was,it was very dry and looked like it was machine cut and out of a freezer expensive for 36-38 euros, although I must say the... I had forgotten some of the quirks of this restaurant; the inter-courses bits and pieces being the main one! I did remember that you have to order your dessert at the start however. So a E35 3 course meal became a 6 or 7 course with the little extras. And I was absolutely full - had to take a promenade!

We visited here on a Friday lunchtime, before embarking on the ferry home. The food was excellent, the service also, and we got a number of additional amuse bouche and petite fours as part of our meal. We ordered off the lunchtime €35 menu, and the dishes were all great. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The restaurant was fairly full, but we managed to get a table for Sunday lunch without pre-booking, and with a window view. The menu looked interesting, although my french was not good enough to decipher some of it. All the courses were imaginatively presented and tasted delicious. There were extra tasting dishes between courses, and as they were served we... More

Just returned from a short break to France and we thought we would save the best meal to last. There were insufficient staff who seemed not to know which food should be served at the right table. Service was very slow and most of the time we had to pour our own wine (pedantic I know, but you expect this... More

We Stayed for three nights at La Matelote, in a lovely suite overlooking the sea front. We ate every evening at their restaurant. What was so superb, exceptional, was the consistent standard of every plate that was presented to us. Moreover, the timing between the very many course was just right. We ate the degustation menu one night, and the... More

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant yesterday. We often travel to France just for lunch as we live very near the ferry and it's cheaper and easier for us to get to France than London. So the restaurant was important as it was the focus of the day. I am vegetarian and my fussy mother didn't fancy anything... More
