Its difficult to choose in old Boulogne as all the restaurants look similarly enticing. If you want post do l'ilot vert which I have also rated. But if you want just great home cooking go here. There isn't much we hasn't had in France but my husband tried a Boulogne Sausage, which was a new one on us. It was... More

I can't describe in enough detail just how bad this meal was. From the French onion soup that tasted canned to the fish that had no flavour to the patates 'dauphinois' that was a mash of cream and old potatoes - nothing was worthy of my time. Don't go here even if everything else is booked up.

The best thing was the wine, the thing they didn't make. The rest of the food was mostly just tasteless. Friendly service and atmosphere. Kids menu if you need it.

Went for the menu de jour at €15.90 - onion soup was unrecognisable as such, and completely tasteless. Moules smothered in mustard. Steak was stewed & covered in what they described as bernaise - awful. Potato dauphinese - awful - tasteless. How hard can it be???

Went to this restaurant for Valentines Lunch yesterday. Food was excellent and so was the house wine. .We had a set 3 courses and the food came up well presented and we didn't have to wait long. Will always go there when we are next in Boulogne. Very friendly staff..Also nice atmosphere.

We chanced upon this restaurant while wandering through the old town on a wet January Sunday afternoon and were tempted in by the €15 menu. We ended up upgrading to the €16 menu which had slightly better choices for us. The portions were huge and the service friendly, the chap spoke very good English. I had 50cl of the house... More

Found this restaurant after walking around the old town and were tempted in by the unpretentious appearance, paper tablecloths and group sitting by the window obviously waiting for a good meal. A lot of locals arrived to eat who obviously eat here regularly. Went for the 22 euro menu which was excellent value - coquille de poisson gratinee (loads of... More

Pretty dreadful! The waiter was pleasant enough and found us a table. The clientelle were a mixture of French along with a few English tourists. The food was not good. The fish soup was out of a packet and the steaks were stringy, of poor quality and soaked in a sickly creamy pepper sauce. The dauphinoise potatoes had been made... More

We were very impressed with the whole dining experience at La Pierre Chaude. They had a great range of set menus and the food, although not exceptional, was very tasty. All our dietary needs were catered for and my friend and I were impressed at the vegetarian options. The onion soup was yummy and I loved the goat's cheese salad.... More

Tasteless food with a strange brown dressing on the salad which seemed to be a cross between thick balsamic vinegar and brown sauce. Unpleasant and aggressive service. The restaurant was smokey from the clients at the tables outside the large open window and the passersby. What a waste of money and an awful experience!!
