Great food, good prices, city-centre vitality

The Petit Rat Porteur is located between the two historic squares in the centre of Arras and is close to plenty of public parking. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated and comfortable with a good atmosphere. The service is friendly and professional and the food is really good. I tried... read more

A couple of times a year, we meet our friends who have a house in Calais and have an escorted weekend by two lovely people who know the local area, attractions and good restaurants and it was suggested that we take a day out in Arras. As usual, we were very pleasantly surprised and especially by our visit to La... More

We received a recommendation to go to this restaurant from our B&B owner and what a great place this turned out to be. For a reasonable price we ate an excellent dinner - a kind of sea food soup with leeks as a starter, a rump steak and a fish plate with creamy vegetables as main dishes and artisanal ice... More

I visited Le Petit Rat Porteur with some friends of mine who live in a nearby village. They work in Arras and mentioned that they like to come to this restaurant for lunch. I let my friends do the ordering and enjoyed every plate that came to the table. The food at Le Petit Rat is right up my alley... More

A popular restaurant with friendly, efficient service. Unfortunately, the food proved slightly disappointing. My husband ordered the cassoulet but had to send it back since, below the surface, it was stone-cold. The staff rectified this quickly but the fact that it happened at all has cost Le Petit Rat its fourth star. I should add that I had the Flemish... More

Not for one who likes fine French cuisine but good honest food, well presented and tasty without being expensive

We paid a visit a couple of years ago, so decided to go again. After travelling all day we were very hungry. We had the last table in this small restaurant. We had to wait at least 45 mins for the starters to arrive as there was only one waiter on doing everything. The food was well worth the wait.... More

After a morning in the Wellington Quarries, and a cold morning at that, we were ready for some lunch, and, since I own a website dedicated to French food (www.lovefrenchfood.com), this could not be missed. Because we made the effort and spoke French, we were welcomed - so many visitors overlook this courtesy. I perched myself, back to the wall,... More

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't match our expectations. Despite reserving a table, we were sat next to the kitchen, and everyone knows the inconvenience of hearing plates crashing, etc. Waiters were unbelievably rude, and despite the food was nice, not worth it. Such a pity because the place is nice...

Recommended to us by our Chambre d'Hote owner and definitely a great start to our holiday, Le Petit Rat Porteur offers a good menu, perfectly hilled local beer, nice wines and excellent service. Spoilt for choice but when in Arras eat the local speciality, andouillettes! Mind you that covers many French gastronomic towns and cities! An excellent meal right in... More
