I was here for a business dinner as the host has eaten here many times and I can see why. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, which is always a positive in France and makes a huge difference... I had the seasonal "L’omelette parfumée à la truffe noire" as a starter - I never, ever order omelette in... More

Stayed overnight in Compiegne on way to Paris and researching a suitable restaurant spotted this one on TA. I booked on-line using their website and received confirmation by email. It worked well as the excellent maitre d (owner?) spotted us when we arrived (obvious Brits I suppose!!). We loved everything about the place - the room, the decor, the value... More

We both had a fish for main course, one was lieu noir (saithe) and the other was salmon with noodles. They were very well cooked and very good value at 12 euros each. The first course was excellent asperagus, but no bargain at 13 euros. Desserts, however, were also well priced.

Our search for a restaurant on Compiegne on a Saturday evening without having a reservation (a party of 8!) turned into an unexpected awesome dining experience. The selected restaurants being fully booked, one restaurant owner suggested to try the Bistrot du terroir. Two of us entered the restaurant to check, the manager did not have any room either but said... More

Had the best meal I ever had in France. Friendly staff, perfect food. I was going to try the cherry clafoutis but decided to try The chestnut cake. It is to die for!

What a great friendly atmosphere at this local bistro just off the main square in Compiegne; the two "managers" were very accommodating doing their best in English to help us understand all the choices whilst we strangled our best schooldays french..all the staff were efficient and relaxed. Clearly very popular with the locals we had a great evening with some... More

Went there for a dinner with the colleagues, on a Monday it was empty, but still. The place was comfortable, and the kidneys I ordered were very tasty. Just try to avoid beers, quite pricy and quite small sizes

We found this place during our vacation travel research. It was one of the rated restaurants in the area. So we decided to drive there on one of the evenings in Compiegne. The navigation software brought us to the Hotel De Ville square. After finding a parking spot, we walked to the small street, and did not see any signs... More

Myself and two others spent three nights in Compiegne on a business trip with high hopes of some very good dining experiences while here. The difficulty is that French Bistrot menus all read fairly much the same and you really don't know till you try. Sadly, up until tonight we had been disappointed! It was with high hopes that we... Arrived in Compiegne hoping to find a truly delightful French restaurant. We arrived at 1.45 on a Saturday - it was full, but the owner made up a table. Waited a while for the menu but it was a pleasure to be amongst charming local people. Excellent fillet steak. Chef, assistant and three kitchen staff do a great job. The... More
