Great French food, lovely view

Arrived late in Macon our hotel recommended this restaurant. Literally had to jog over the bridge as the kitchen was closing. Lovely romantic view, had Turbot and was very nice, very rich. Dessert was equally nice. Two of us was 100€ with a bottle of wine. Service was fine. Recommended

We eat in Macon a lot as we have a house in the countryside nearby and this restaurant never ceases to impress. This week we had an amuse bouche of fois gras brûlée,a starter of delicious shredded celeriac and sumptuously cooked cod with delicate salad leaves piled on top and our main course was delicious pink trout accompanied by sautéed... We have been coming here for years. The food is usually quite good, however expensive. For a Saturday lunch two of us spent well over 100 Euros (with only a local table wine). Service was polite and friendly (the maitre d'hotel "Laurent" is always charming) however, the wait time before ordering and between each course was extra long. Not having... More

Delicious food. The chicken (from Bresse) actually had muscle and flavour. Some waiters worked much harder than others, and some did less! But, it was fine.

Have been coming here for best part of 20 years, and am also a fan of the owner Georges Blanc's operation in nearby Vonnas, where he has a three-star restaurant, the Mere Blanc brasserie and some very reasonable accommodation for a stopover en route to Italy. Back this summer and food is as good as ever: anyone quibbling over value... More

Beautiful setting in Macon with views over the river, food was good, however very expensive for the quality. Staff polite but seemed a little flustered and disorganised. Having spent a few days here it would be fair to say there are other places to eat which offer far better food and certainly better value.

Lovely location, nicely presented brasserie. Just far too expensive at €32 for a rib eye steak with potatoes and nothing else.

This bistro was recommended to us by the reception staff at the hotel we stayed at. It is beautifully situated on the river and has a large covered terrace where we sat and enjoyed dinner. After dark the bridge and some of the buildings across the river were illuminated making it the most perfect setting. The food was delicious, the... More

I had the poulet de Bresse with morel mushrooms and was as sick as I ever have been within an hour or so. My wife had to call an ambulance and the hospital put me on a drip and pumped me full of drugs to counteract what the emergency room doctor called 'toxic mushroom poisoning' . I was ill for... More

Very pleasant overnight in Mâcon, recommended and without doubt i would advise my friends. On the terrace at night you have an amazing view at Mâcon and sunset, while savouring all good food from le saint laurent. The menu light and filling at same time, very pleasant service. Try also the special Œuf de ferme du Père Pagneux!
