Outstanding S. Sylvestre (New Year's Eve) 2014 dinner in Macon

Great place to end the year at this one star Michelin. There were 4 of us and we chose the simplest of the 3 choices. The food was delicious and presented as a work of art. The table setting was exquisite. All in all it was an unforgettable evening from 20PM until 2AM!

I wish we could spend more time in Macon so we could revisit this restaurant. We had lunch at Restaurant Pierre and it was one of the best gastronomic experiences we’ve had during our month’s stay in the area. We chose the day’s menu (Retour de marche) for 26 euros per person. For firsts, we had pumpkin veloute soup with... More

This restaurant offered a range of menus. We chose the Gourmet menu with an option of 2 or 3 courses. In fact, there were a more including a mise en bouche and two a pre-desserts. The food was exquisite and the service discreet and excellent. The only thing that marred the evening was the repeated pinging of another client's iPhone... More

The food is good and at the level of a 1 star restaurant, a mix of local tradition and a bit of modernity. Desserts are wonderful. The service was excellent : naturally careful and professional, sincerely smiling and charming (not the kind of cold and unpersonalised service you can encounter in starred restaurant, where waiters apply the irritating politeness rules... This is a restaurant not to be missed but I would recommend booking. Madame does speak English but it is always useful to take a dictionary to a restaurant, although some things don't always translate. We ate outside on a lovely warm evening and we were transported to Gastronomy Heaven. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Such happy memories... More

We sat outside for dinner on a balmy June evening. The service was excellent and welcoming.Delicious pouilly fuisse and cote de Beaune. A lot of food choice -my wild turbot was gorgeous as was my husband's beef fillet. We were given 3 little amuse-bouche to start with. The cheese trolley was definitely worth fitting in. I have a feeling puddings are... More

We had an unexpected but excellent lunch. Our boat had landed at Marcon and we decided to eat in the town instead of on board and as it was a Sunday not many places were open. We stumbled upon this restaurant not knowing anything about it. We sat down and immediately realised no one spoke English and the menus were... More

Truly inspired food if a little too much emphasis for the sweet palate. Very charming and attentive service - excellent wine book. Lovely table settings but the décor, oh dear, try to ignore the truly hideous colour scheme, pictures and general non-style. Food-wise a lovely place to be. Excellent value.

I've just enjoyed an outstanding meal Chez Pierre. Why do people spend 29 Euros for a mediocre menu in an unappealing restaurant when they can enjoy a wonderful meal for 35 Euros in a restaurant that operates at an exceptionally high standard? Everything was first-rate. Well worth a visit!
