Maybe one star, and the prices were correct, BUT, the food and the service was provincial snobby. If you want real 3 star cuisine try Anne-Sophie Pic or Marc Veyrat. Honestly this fellow is an impostor. I am really concerned that Michelin has lost its direction when giving out its precious stars.

Joigny is a quiet town close to Auxerre and therefore Chablis and the three star rated La Cote Saint Jacques is the compelling reason for most travellers to visit. This is a wonderful restaurant with the chef at its centre; the intelligent use of technique and ingredients by chef Jean Michel Lorrain is an example to all cooks with the... More

This was part of a gastronomic trip through Spain and France, and it was certainly one of the highlights - possibly the best. Every dish was superbly cooked and tasted wonderful. The range of tastes was excellent, from the red mullet and mackerel with rhubarb and strawberries, to the snails with garlic and mushrooms and lentils, to the stunning Wagyu... More

It was clearly well thought out but would suggest just choose from individual dishes on the menu. It is old fashioned French cooking with a modern twist - but just too much.

Just what you'd expect from a Michelin 3 Star Chef. Went for lunch which lasted 41/2 hours. I have dined in four other three star restaurants, and this would rank with the finest. Jean Michel Lorain provides an experience of a lifetime. I have read some of the other reviews regarding the hotel, but you have to remember why you... More

A group of six of us visited this superb restaurant - we opted for the Gourmand (i.e. glutton !) menu with the Sommelier's wine suggestions. All superb, from the amuse bouche with Champagne at the beginning, through multiple entrees, main courses and desserts. Every one was a work of art in terms of taste and presentation, complemented by superb service.... More

Amazing food, presentation and service. Our second time here underscored the meaning of Michelin 3 star status. A great way to begin week on the canals of Burgandy. Beth Houghton's review says it all!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here two years ago. We came back this year with my brother and mother. Food was beyond superb. Service attentive without being too fussy. Every course was inventive and delicious. My mother and brother were just blown away! Not to miss.

We had dinner here on our first night of a 2 week vacation in France. We have booked a romance package incl. dinner, hotel, breakfast. So not cheap at all - we were very pleased for what we've got. Food was excellent & more than enough - service excellent - enough time to eat and enjoy.. wine selection: champagne, white... More

What a great place to stop on the way to Paris from Beaune. loved every minute and both Chef's cuisine and the wine list were fantastic. In addition the setting is superb as are the staff. Truly a delight.
