Not a good evening!

Last nights are often a bit desparate - and our choice was, on a Sunday evening when Le Bistrot, and many other restaurants in Sarlat were closed. 4 adults, two 10 year old girls and a one year old. Grumpy waiter, totally unflexible when smaller portion of something requested to try, would not... read more

Well, to be fair, to understand my review you first have to like duck, and secondly, you must like foie gras. The seared foie gras appetizer was absolutely outstanding - truly unforgettable. It was so good, we had it again for dessert. It was served on toast with a salad that had a miraculous mustard dressing of some kind -... More

We were wandering around Sarlat, and came across this restaurant in a small alley, slightly out of the main tourist area. The waiter was so cheerful, it would have been rude not to stay. The menu was varied and well priced. Three of us had set regional menus, which were very god and exceptional value. Well worth a lunchtime visit

We recently returned to California after three weeks circumnavigating France by car. Aux 4 was most definitely among our top three restaurants! Two meals, both splendid! Three other posters said it all for us: charming place, terrific food (the local trout is not to miss) and friendly staff. The owner and chef are over-the-top friendly (the former lives in Domme... We sat outside this restaurant and enjoyed an excellent meal. The owner and staff were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I loved the trout, served with vegetables, which is a rarity in this part of France. Walnut cake is a local speciality and I tried it in several places but this was by far the best.

After a week of duck in various forms we wanted to experience other french form....not an easy find in sarlat....until we found a great character restaurant in a picture perfect setting. As normal in mid afternoon it was closed but this charming man saw us and asked if he could assist with translations. He was helpful, funny without being in... More

After 4 nights in sarlart having had various parts of a duck every night we wanted to eat something different. We were wandering around reading all the boards outside the closed for the afternoon restaurants. Then out from this delightful looking place in a picture perfect alley comes this guy asking if we had any questions regarding the menu....he was... More

A wide menu offering indigenous food; a moderate but more than adequate wine list, and an establishment run by 3 guys [one being the owner] and a chef. The 3 of them couldn't do enough for us, especially Philippe, who became a real friend. We were made very welcome, coming from the food prep area to shake our hands and... More

We came across this lovely restaurant while strolling through Sarlat looking for a place to have dinner. The menu looked really good (and had an attractive kids' menu too) and the place itself was situated in a nice little road full of character. We thought why not try it? We were very well received, and while perusing the menu we... More

A party of five of us ate at this restaurant recently for dinner. The food and service were both dreadful. One of us had the rump steak - this was extremely tough, tasteless and over-cooked, served with a hash-up of potato and garlic and a limp piece of cabbage. I wouldn't have fed this to the local dog, let alone... More
