A superb dining experience, and unbeatable value

Our first night in Sarlat after a week in Paris and 4 nights in the Loire. All in my family of 4 agreed this was our best meal so far (ok, it was equal best for 2 of us with a Parisian dinner we all enjoyed). If you are keen to sample duck, goose, fois gras and other regional specialties... read more

In a few days visit to Perigord and Dordogne, Sarlat was our center of operations. We had dinner here a few times, trying different menus. All them was very well prepared and served, at a reasonable price.

This is not fine dining but rather casual, often quite busy and very high quality food at a good value. I brought the family here and all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were joking with the very friendly servers and very relaxed, a good time was had by all. The food was excellent. I especially enjoyed their foie gras three ways... More

Definitely a place frequented by locals - it was excellent, particularly the salads and the duck confit and the prices were very reasonable!

We were staying at Manoir Petit Meysett, just up the hill from L'Octroi, and went there twice. It is not holding out as fine dining (for that, go to Jardins D'Harmonie!) but is good regional cooking and is very popular with locals, something that is a very positive sign in any tourist town. We had goose breast, home made pate... More

Recommended to us by a local. It is probably the busiest joint in Sarlat. Crowds of people stormed the place throughout our dinner, including a 20+ person group occupying the 1st floor space inside creating an unpleasant disturbance. Our poor waitress looked like she was on the verge of crying, having had to deal with constant pressure from the tables... More

We are staying just down the road and found this a convenient and pleasant place to eat just out of the old town area in Sarlat. It has a local menu but we chose the veal and cod and enjoyed both our meals and the polite and attentive service with good wine choices. It seems quite popular and was almost... More

A great meal here the other week!! The menu is relatively small and specialises in food popular in this part of France mainly duck and Goose based dishes. My meal consisted of fois gras, goose and ile flotante. All were excellent and the cahors red went perfectly with it. Service was fantastic, the price was very good and its only... More

We have eaten here at least 5 times over the past three years. It is a consistently super restaurant. There are always great choices available from the specials. Unlike my husband, I don't like foie gras and I'm not a huge fan of duck or goose. However, I always find something delicious here, often the beef. The service is always... More
