As 6 friends holidaying near Brantome, we booked a table by the river at Saint Sicaire and had the most incredible lunch. The levels of service were extremely high - all of the waiting staff were attentive and gave great advice on which wine and food to order. The menu du jour is phenomenally good value at €14 and every... More

We ate twice at this family friendly restaurant. Both times the food was excellent, and the service brilliant too. Both of my boys ate the steak hash with lovely sautéed potatoes. On our second trip I had the steak which was cooked perfectly for me. I normally like my meat rare but asked for medium and it came out rare... More

For around 14 euros for a three course lunch, at a fabulous setting, you might expect less than adequate food. But, you'd be wrong. Whilst portions are, for some, a tad small, the various three courses make for a reasonably hearty lunch. And, the quality is good. Brantome is a tourist trap and has all the usual shops to satisfy... More

This is a lovely riverside cafe in the quaint town of Brantome; really a storybook setting with the ducks paddling in the placid water below. Our family of four arrived toward the end of the lunch hour, around 2 PM. We weren't expecting a gourmet experience, just a solid late lunch. Three of us ordered the menu of the day,... More

It's evident that the location relieves them of having to try very hard. Other nearby restaurants are better. Go there instead. The food was barely ok, more suited to a motorway service station. The service was indifferent. Am I not at the 100 character minimum yet? Do I have to find more to say about this place?

We have been coming here for years, never been dissapointed, the people are friendly, the food is great, beautifull omlettes and salads my husband would say great lamb chops, "assiete gourmande" for pudd is lovely :-) The setting by the river in Brantome has to be one of the best, sadly the weather was a bit wet for us but... We stayed in Brantome for a week in 2013 and visited Le Saint-Sicaire several times, as it was opposite the house we had rented. The staff were very welcoming and good fun, especially Herve, so we kept in touch. We returned this year to a warm welcome, as if we were great friends. The location is superb, especially the tables... More

Had lunch on the 14 euro menu. Goats cheese, ham and melon, followed by bavette and lamb chops, followed by strawberries and fromage frais. Food was ok. Nothing more. Bread hard, service slower as it got busier, although location good. I won't visit again and would opt for somewhere else next time.

The food is excellent value and has some lovely snacks if you don't want a heavy meal. Also, the plat du jour is a must. Superb. If you want a casual meal with a great location then look no further. The staff are very attentive and friendly, especially Herve!

Food brilliant great choice of menu. Staff very attentive. Lovely ambiance, especially if you manage to get a table by the river in the sumer. Highly recommended.
