The restaurant Trotthus in Riquewihr can accommodate 40 guests and immediately wins by its warmth and its Alsatian atmosphere. The thick and old west wall is simply the wall of the rampart built during the year 1291! The setting is ancient: large exposed beams, some of which date back to the early sixteenth century, a collection of antiques collected by the owner of the house and linked to winemaking, an imposing and ancient wine press on which you can dine or drink a glass.
The Chef, Philippe Aubron, having knocked nearly 20 years around the world - from Japan to Australia and to the Caribbean - decided to drop his pots in Riquewihr. His Gourmet cuisine, inventive and refined, makes extensive use of the produce of Alsace and will satisfy the most demanding palates.

Excellent food, we had French. Surprisingly, all 4 courses came on one multi-plate. Nice atmosphere, we were there at a fairly quiet time (lunch). If we go to Alsace again (very likely) we will visit Au Trotthus (definitely).

This was the BEST restaurant I ate during my trip to Alsace. The owners are very sweet and incredibly talented. There is a Sushi and Sake bar downstairs, but I ate the traditional Alsatian fare and was blown away. This is a MUST DO if you are in Riquewihr.

If you would like to spend a perfect evening with the best food you can get in Elsass, come to the restaurant Au Trotthus. The Chef/host is very experienced in offering different food from different continents. Just perfect, it couldn't be better.

Riquewihr is an amazing, must - see village, even given the sheer quantity of those places in Alsace. Navigating the cultural difficulties in some of these places can be daunting. Decades ago I simply went with my best Standard German, as the Alsatian dialect of German is about 80% the same. These days - because of changing politics - the... More

You have to head just off the Main Street to find this beautifully individual restaurant. Seems that we have a glorious mix of French flair and Japanese influence. Being the last night of our week away I was hell bent on spending some cash, but the choice on the 29 euro menu was just what I wanted...damn!😀 the food was... More

The Chef at the restaurant has spent some time in Japan. You can have either Japanese or French food. Even the French food has a Japanese influence so it is interesting. We enjoyed our well paced meal. The food was very good and well prepared but it was quite expensive. An interesting experience. We were tempted to go for the... More

We arrived in Riquewihr and were advised to book up a restaurant for dinner. It seems there are a number of really good restaurants and these get full pretty quickly even for dinner when the weather has turned. We were recommended Au Trotthus and were not disappointed. Very good service, real personal touch from the Chef who came round the... More

The lovely Japanese hostess greeted us with, "Do you wish French or Japanese food?" We chose French, so we stayed at the cozy upstairs restaurant. Our lunch, fixed gourmet selections of very innovative taste twists of traditional Alsatian dishes, was served almost "bento" style in small plates, delivered by the chef, himself. We started with a creamy vegetable soup and... More
