The restaurant Trotthus in Riquewihr can accommodate 40 guests and immediately wins by its warmth and its Alsatian atmosphere. The thick and old west wall is simply the wall of the rampart built during the year 1291! The setting is ancient: large exposed beams, some of which date back to the early sixteenth century, a collection of antiques collected by the owner of the house and linked to winemaking, an imposing and ancient wine press on which you can dine or drink a glass. The Chef, Philippe Aubron, having knocked nearly 20 years around the world - from Japan to Australia and to the Caribbean - decided to drop his pots in Riquewihr. His Gourmet cuisine, inventive and refined, makes extensive use of the produce of Alsace and will satisfy the most demanding palates.

Fusion kitchen with the best of 2 worlds, interesting!

First of all: belgian restaurants should take an example of the restaurants we visited in the Elzas, because almost all of them had an allround child menu, not like the mindless hamburger or chicken with fries and appelmash... Whenever we go to Riquewihr we reserve a table to eat here. Mr. Philippe Aubron, who has earned a large number of Michelin stars in his life-time, is a most gracious and amusing host and a fantastic chef. He offers two set menus at a very reasonable price, and for a supplement of 15 euros per person he pairs the... More

We came to this restaurant for lunch, and having experienced other restaurants where personnel rarely speaks English, were quite surprised that the personnel here spoke quite a few languages including French, English and Japanese. Even though we didn’t make a reservation ahead of time, they found a table for us without a problem (maybe because we came early). The chef/owner... More

Father, a superb chef with certificates to prove it, lived 17 years in Japan; the mother he married there and their children staff the restaurant, warm and friendly, with imaginative dishes using the freshest local ingredients. The house reisling was superb. Michelin says "bib gourmand"; for me the meal well surpassed many I've had in one-star restaurants and better, and... More

Really enjoyed the experience. There was a choice of fixed menus and a la carte which gave a good choice of dishes. Good balance of fish and meat. Service was very friendly and informative. Relaxed atmosphere and good fun evening

We had an excellent dinner last night at Au Trotthus. Chef Aubron gave us a very warm welcome and we had a chance to talk a bit as we were the first customers for the evening. While we enjoyed the typical Alsatian cuisine, we found this meal the most innovative and delicious. The food was amazing- French with some Japanese... More

Enjoyed a nice evening in Riquewihr at the Trotthus. Mr Aubron, the chef, and his wife offer a nice service and good food. The wine served with the set menu are good, not great. We like the place and the decoration. It's not a big restaurant so do reserve your table in advance. Thank you for your service. We'll come... More

We were looking for something a little different from standard Alsatian cuisine, and this was it--Had a great meal and service was very nice. We would go back.

After several days wine touring and eating almost non-stop, facing yet another dinner was a daunting thought. Our band of brothers ( and sisters!) were recommended to Philippe's cosy establishment and were met with a genuine, friendly welcome by the owner. Little did we realise the treat in store. The French/Japanese menu was small but beautiful. Some chose to go... More

A group of friends stayed in Riquewihr and wanted an authentic French meal... and we got it! The food was on point and the wine pairings were fantastic. The restaurant is small and quaint and just what we were looking for!
