Lovely, Friendly Pub

My wife and I took my elderly mother-in-law to the Red Lion this week and we had an excellent meal. The staff are really friendly and attentive and even allowed us to move tables to a quieter part of the restaurant. Drinks were brought to the table and we were even offered a jug of water. Visited with family for evening meal. Two of our diners had things missing off their plates. Also fish which had been ordered with batter came breadcrumbed. By the time this was rectified, others had finished their meal. Nothing off the bill for their inadequacies. Not good enough. The Chef should check all plates leaving the kitchen.

Outstanding food, friendly staff and great value for money. From the stunning roasties to the meaty gravy, the food was spot on, best roast I've had in a long long time! Well done guys!

Went here for a nice but straight forward meal. Slightly unclear as to how service works as some seemed to be table service but then we ordered other bits at the bar. The food was certainly hearty! We had plenty of food to go round and it is very rare with this group that we give pud a miss but... More

Literally just left this pub after a 40 minute wait! No welcome at the bar, we were ignored; asked for a table and were seated. No drinks order taken initially. Had to wave down a waitress after 15 mins who took our drinks order. We never saw them! We waited and waited for someone to come back ( the manager... More

Went out last night for a nice meal...or so we thought! The waitress came and took our order, then brought my main course before my starter. She took both main courses back to the kitchen and eventually arrived with my starter. Main courses came and I had 2 different colours of PEA ???? and the chicken was like eating the... More

Arrived just after noon on Sunday and for some reason my booking was not in the diary, but the waitress was unfazed and said not to worry, before giving us a choice of 3 or 4 tables. Service was friendly and swift. We ordered Sunday roasts x 2. It came out in about 12 minutes, very hot and with a... More

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. We got a table no problem and the food was delicious, the pies are huge and full of flavour!! The staff are friendly but seemed rushed off their feet, I got the feeling that they were short staffed & I didn't like being called 'guys' by the staff, it's a pet hate of mine and... More

we have eaten here on many occations and the food and service has been good. The waitresses are frendly and efficient..My reason for 3 stars is that on the last THREE occations we have been overcharged. so check your bill. We were charged for something we didnt have and the manager did correct it without question. It seems to regular... More

Lovely and warm with open fires. Good range on the menu and good portion size. Reasonable prices, esp before 5pm.
