Unusual dishes

We ordered typical Tuscan dishes, including boar (with pine nuts) and rabbit as our mains. We were pleased with what was served, somewhat less so with the service. The ambiance is agreeable. Recommended.

Restaurant is in good location near the main famous square; Thing is that from such a nice restaurant you would expect excellent food whereas they serve you normal food, quite good of course, but just standard. Staff is nice. Appreciated very much the quality of the toilet, large and clean.

We saw this restaurant hidden down an alleyway... Mind you most of Italian restaurants are down an alleyway! We sat outside and started with the gnocchi in Gorgonzola and my husband had the freselle. Both were lovely. I had a chicken tagine for my main course and my husband had the boar with raisins and pine nuts. Again they were... More

Ordered vegetable soup, grilled tomatoes and cod. Soup was an inedible vegetable mush, tomatoes were burnt and served cold, the fish was awful, basically minced in a fatty tomatoe sauce. Everything seemed pre-prepared and reheated in a microwave. Honestly, shouldn't Hvar paid. Hope we won't get sick.

I have to say that reading some of the reviews left on trip advisor leaves me confused as to how different peoples dining experiences are. We loved this restaurant and it was the only one that we returned to during our 10 day stay in Volterra. The restaurants in Voterra are all of a good standard but the menu is... More

Very average food, nothing very inventive on the menu. Vegetable lasagne, spaghetti ragu,, pici pasta (all around 10-15 euro), veal at 28 euro and steak fiorentina about the same. Wine expensive- only ordered a half bottle of house red at 14 euro. Bread was rock hard. Awful. Portions of spaghetti ragu we ordered arrived and were minuscule (11 euro each-... More

We had anti pasto and various primi/secondi. Everything was very tasty and well prepared. One of the kids was sulking over the lack of pizza but was more than happy with the alternative suggested by his mom (veal and lemon sauce with a side order of potatoes). Only disappointing item was my starter of "veggie meatballs on fried small tomatoes"... More

We had walked past this restaurant at lunchtime and decided we would return for our evening meal. Didn't get the impression that the staff enjoyed working there. Food itself was fine - we shared a starter, which was tasty. The main courses were a bit salty. Felt as though waiter was hovering to collect tip. Nice wine, not sure I... More

Had dinner there tonight. The staff was very friendly and helpful for a group of 8 noisy Americans who don't know Italian. The menu is all in Italian but the staff is bilingual and will answer all your quesions. We tried number of items - carpaccio and melon, bread salad and the potatoe and bacon item for antipasto. All very good.... More
