We went here for lunch, expecting a lacklustre touristic experience. Not at all! The waiter was friendly, the boar with olives was outstanding and I was so full after my pollo arrosto I didn't need dinner. If you're in Volterra for a few hours, this is the place for a good value lunch.

If I had checked the reviews here on Tripadvisor, I probably would have passed Il Porcellino and sat down at Beppino or Pozze degli Etruski, a few steps further in the same street... Though the service was ok, the food was disappointing. We've had much better in Tuscany/ Volterra. Price was good, but not much cheaper than other restaurants. All... More

We picked this place purely on the basis we were hungry and it was empty, so perhaps we only have ourselves to blame if it failed to light up our first night in Volterra. My wife enjoyed her starter of grilled aubergine and main of gnocchi; I was less enamoured by the dry croustinos I had to start and wild... More

You cannot believe how bad this place is, from the surly waitress who throws down stuff on the table like she's doing you a favour to her creepy waiter friend who stares at you while you eat. We have been travelling around Italy for nearly 2 weeks and my daughter had had enough of pasta and pizza so she ordered... More

We had maybe 4 different waiters by the time our dinner ended. And none of them seemed very eager to please us. We found ourselves sitting and eating alone in the restaurant (maybe we were there too early), but still, they were open and could have been more pleasant. We wished we had gone somewhere else that was recommended instead... More

Why any restaurant is using synthetic ingredient in Italy is beyond me. Horrible pizza with tomato sauce from a can and a fettucini with a supermarket sauce. The service is uninterested........enough said

There is an hidden aspect of the magnificient Volterra that should be underlined: its restaurants and pizzerias. In similar turistic cities, you eat bad and pay very much. In Volterra, in the middle of Volterra, you can eat well and pay las you were in an unknown italian city. An example of this claim, is "Il Porcellino". For the sake... More

We thought this looked like a nice restaurant tucked away down a side street with a wide variety of dishes on the menu so we stopped here for lunch. It was a pretty miserable experience. The waitress was unpleasant and seemed to have mastered the art of throwing your water bottle onto the table so as to clink as many... More

We had lunch with my husband-to-be's family in this restaurant. The food was very tasty but the waitress was disinterested and had to be asked repeatedly to bring us the salad we had ordered as we were in a hurry. We absolutely understand that the usual way of eating in Italy is to have a small pasta dish, then salad... More

We stopped at this sidewalk café for lunch because it was the first one that was in front of us when we realized we were so hungry! Very happy that we did! My husband tried the Parpardelle with Boar sauce and really loved it. I had the fettucine with salmon sauce and it was soooo amazingly good! We were so... More
