Pleasant restaurant near the Piazza

This is a lovely restaurant with an interesting menu. It is a bit off of the Piazza in Volterra and needs reservations as it fills up quickly. We ate upstairs and the ambience and the food were both quite good.

Food was excellent! Highly recommended Tuscan dinning. My family will not forget the fantastic service with a smile. Grazie mille a Cristina for helping us find a place to stay during the Medieval Festival in August!

This restaurant is split into two - the main part indoors and a small outdoor space. We ate in the latter and had a charming lunch in this lovely Tuscan hilltop town. Our meal was enlivened by a marching band which just happened along the narrow street. The main restaurant was peopled by locals having a leisurely Sunday lunch. We... More

We ate here twice during our stay in Volterra. It is a very genuine family owned and run place a bit off the tourist trail and frequented by local people. The food ranges from the sublime (eat the pigeon or the pork) to the OK (Pici with truffle). The wine is local, good and inexpensive. It is let down by... More

This small restaurant located in a small street in Volterra - Tuscany (Italy) is a little difficult to find. The look of the resturant is not so special (typical rustic restaurant from Tuscany), but the quality of food an the quantity is amazing. We had a special antipasti with excelent selection of traditional cold meats, pigeon cooked with a wine... More

We had intended a single course lunch stop here. We were five on our way between Tuscan holidays. The friendly and obliging staff were happy to transmute truffle bruschetta for one into five portions and we could not resist changing from pasta to proper secundi. Pigeon was quite delicious, their signature dish, but tagliata was also very good. One glass... More

We spent a very enjoyable evening at Il Sacco Fiorentino with our Rick Steves tour group. Everything we ate tasted good, and the wine was just right for the meal. The atmosphere is part of the experience - something about the restaurant just puts you in a good mood.

We decided to spend one of our days in Tuscany "off the beaten path" in Volterra. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire Volterra experience, and this lunch fit right in. This was a Rick Steves recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food and service was very good. We enjoyed several diverse offerings from the menu. The atmosphere was great and... More

My wife and I went here on the advise of the owner of our B&B. She said it was a favorite of locals. Her recommendation was spot on. I had cinghigale (wild boar) in a ragu for the first time and it was heavenly. However, the best part was the atmosphere of a local restaurant with good local table wine... More

Our dinner was pleasant although limitations in the staff’s English made ordering a little difficult. The spinach dumpling was good and although the wild bore was a bit dry and overcooked, the rest of the meal was very tasty.
