We had intended a single course lunch stop here. We were five on our way between Tuscan holidays. The friendly and obliging staff were happy to transmute truffle bruschetta for one into five portions and we could not resist changing from pasta to proper secundi. Pigeon was quite delicious, their signature dish, but tagliata was also very good. One glass... More

We spent a very enjoyable evening at Il Sacco Fiorentino with our Rick Steves tour group. Everything we ate tasted good, and the wine was just right for the meal. The atmosphere is part of the experience - something about the restaurant just puts you in a good mood.

We decided to spend one of our days in Tuscany "off the beaten path" in Volterra. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire Volterra experience, and this lunch fit right in. This was a Rick Steves recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food and service was very good. We enjoyed several diverse offerings from the menu. The atmosphere was great and... More

My wife and I went here on the advise of the owner of our B&B. She said it was a favorite of locals. Her recommendation was spot on. I had cinghigale (wild boar) in a ragu for the first time and it was heavenly. However, the best part was the atmosphere of a local restaurant with good local table wine... More

Our dinner was pleasant although limitations in the staff’s English made ordering a little difficult. The spinach dumpling was good and although the wild bore was a bit dry and overcooked, the rest of the meal was very tasty.

There were other trendier and more popular places to eat in Volterra but we gave this one a try and were not disappointed. Food was good and wholesome, served by a gracious lady who even offered us a complimentary liqueur at the end of our meal. Menu varied enough not to be overwhelming. For dessert you must try the panna... More

I had lunch here, sitting outside. Nothing was too much trouble - a table was quickly prepared for me; all requests for water, wine, and for oil and balsamic vinegar to eat with the bread were promptly fulfilled, The food was presented very well and was very tasty. The service was very good - just the right amount of attention... More

Imagine David Walliams (the tall one) from TV's "Little Britain" as one of his most patronizing, put-upon, eye-rolling "customer service" characters. This is your waiter, who at Il Sacco Fiorentino responds to your every request with a flashed smile/grimace that fairly drips contempt. Having fun yet? Our party of six adults sought this place out based on recommendations from Rick... More

You have to wait for a long time and they forget to bring you oil and vinegar in time. Then they serve you the main dish which is different from what you order. The boss promises you a discount but then issues the full amount in the bill. Very unpleasant staff and dishonest boss. Do not recommend this restaurant because... More
