Silvia our hotel host recommended this place as well as Rick Steve's Guide Book. Just good down home Italian food, not fancy, just what you would expect if you were invited to an Italian home. Excellent.

Tried this little place based on a Rick Steve's suggestion. They have the same fixed menu for lunch and dinner. If you like what you see on that day's menu, go for it. We stopped in for lunch and had two of the four selections. It was so good we went back for dinner and had all four options. Very... More

We were looking for a typical restaurant in Volterra, where to eat well at a decent Price. We were so lucky to step into this nice, small, familiy run reastaurant. We felt confident with no menu (I heat to read a menu with more than 10 plates, sympthom of lack of freshness). Exactly what we were looking for! We ate... More

While most reviews are based on the full dining experience, I feel it necessary to contribute my opinion even without having eaten at La Carabaccia. My sole reason: Treating prospective customers like unwanted elements should not go unmentioned. On a rainy day in Volterra, we decided to try this place for a nice, home-cooked lunch. In spite of the place... More

Simple, home-cooked, fresh ingredients...What more could you want from a meal? We stopped by for lunch. La Carabaccia has a chalkboard out front with maybe 4 selections to choose from. My wife ordered a gnocchi dish, and I had a plate of thinly sliced beef cooked in wine with a tomato salad. Both were wonderful. Nothing fancy, just like your... More

Probably the best meal we had while in Italy, including stays in Florence and Venice! The restaurant was run basically by two Italian "Mamas" who took great care of us and fed us well. There were only two choices of Primi and Secondi, so we got one of each and were very happy with all four selections. Nothing fancy, because... More

My sister decided to shop and wasn't hungry, our guide had pointed this place out and read the 4 menu items on the outside chalkboard for us, it is in Italian only. I then went back for lunch while she shopped. There were a lot of locals, it was busy! One server for the restaurant and the deli in the... More

This restaurant was pointed out to us during our walking tour with Annie. The choices depend on what the owners feel like cooking and what is in season. Fresh, authentic and flavorful food! Make this a must do on your trip!

We met up with friends at this homey restaurant and were delighted by the warm reception and the exceptional food. We had cabbage soup and beef with potatoes. I'm so glad that we were able to eat with the locals and taste such delicious home cooking.

The dishes were fresh and hand made, we tested 2 kind of hand made pasta and both were greate. They said that every day they made different dishes so they don't have a menú a la carte. The service was nice and gentle. Thanks
