Perfect lunch stop

One of 2 Volterra restaurants in the Slow Food guide this was very traditional/homely place in a lovely square. The menu was very short (2 starters, 2 mains plus cheese/charcuterie) but quality was very good and we felt that we were somewhere local rather than touristy. Nice.

Yes, like so many we came because of our travel guide/host with the most, Rick Steves. Sorry to say we were very disappointed with our meals of pork shank with white beans and roasted chicken with spinach. We had to work hard to get the meat off of the bones and then it was truly a small amount of meat!!!... More

A great conclusion to our afternoon in Volterra. Dinner "al fresco" in a very nice location, a bit out of the most crowded parts, in a nice and large square. Service superfriendly, food excellent. They have only four dishes every day and change constantly. If I stayed a week I would probably go every day to try them all. The... More

The coolest thing was that the place was packed with italians. They were asking the waitress about the recipe and menu and they seemed impressed by the answers. Whenever locals est there, it s a very good sign. The food was very good, but service was a bit too slow..... Therefore only 4 stars!

We dined here at lunchtime, having walked in hot sunshine through the streets of Volterra. It's quite quaint, and the menu is limited, but our food was superb. Typically Tuscan and very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Loved this place. Very limited but brilliant menu on the day. Suited us because we are awful at choosing! You can tell that these people are passionate about the food they serve interesting and well balanced food. Brave but effective in offering limited choices. You get the feeling that they want to share their passion for food with you!

Visited for lunch in beginning of July. Very good food - and low prices. Excellent service and very nice atmosphere (take a table outside - very nice!)

We walked into the restaurant about 10 minutes prior to their scheduled opening time. We saw some scurrying in the kitchen, and when we were spotted were welcomed and seated. Our server (the curly haired one) politely asked if we spoke Italian, French, or English. She explained the menu, and answered some questions. We ordered our food and wine, and... More

I won't repeat what others have said...it can be a tad cold i f you don't speak Italian...there are 4 choices for lunch...2 appetizers and 2 entrees...If it is busy, then you might have to wait for a table and thus you could easily feel left out. oh and the food was good..classics done in her own way. I wish... More

The food was lovely. There was a small selection of menu choices but the food was lovely. Our group felt a tad unwelcome as soon as we spoke a different language from Italian. The Italian diners received the usual bread etc. but not our group (nor the foreign speaking group beside us). We asked the waitress to please repeat the... More
