Encounter Tuscany!

An excellent meeting place, as its name suggests. Intimate and interesting surroundings, lovely coffee and pastries, excellent ice cream. Right in the centre of Volterra.

When in Volterra, a visit to L'Incontro is a must. The venue is very cozy and intimate, and the ice cream and cakes are the simply the best. You can sit down and have a coffee or a drink as well.

This place offered a nice respite from the heat and served top class coffee. However the attitude of the staff made it not such a pleasant experience. The staff seemed annoyed we ordered coffee, didn't clean away the previous patrons' leftovers and cups and basically looked grumpy. Shame because the decor is interesting, gelato pretty good and the cappuccino great.... More

We went there as a family and found the staff to have a lot of attitude. We ordered some coffees and they were plonked down in front of us in quite a rude way and the table we sat down wasn't cleared for us, we had to clear the glasses ourselves. Further there was no soap in the bathroom and... More

What I like about this cafe is the range of sweet and savoury dishes on offer. You can choose a from mini pizzettes or tiny sandwiches, to larger dishes, and similarly with sweet dishes, from miniature fruit tarts to full size cakes and pastries. The staff are really friendly, and the walls have all sorts of interesting and quirky things... More

Found this great little cafe which was nice and cool compared to the heat outside. Excellent gelato and friendly service. Well worth a visit.

We called in for afternoon coffee. It's a lovely building and everything looks lovely. The ice cream and pastries all looked good although we just had coffee and a very green, Apple juice. All very nice. They also have decent free WiFi.

Quick stop to have an ice - cream. The decoration was very pleasant and unique. It was good to see the creativity they had to make this place welcoming.

Sought this place out following a lonely planet recommendation and we were not disappointed. Staff spoke good English and were friendly. We ordered a salami/cheese platter and two coffees which came to 15 Euros. Interesting unlike many places in Tuscany we did not have to pay coperto (cover charge). I returned latter that day to buy the biscotti which we... More

A great find. Great coffee and amazing pastry and incredibly reasonable. A must in when you are in this area. This is not your run of the mill cafe so do not miss it.
