if you want a lovely location in a perfect city for an evening meal..this is perfect. My family are vegetarian and the staff are so helpful in providing a great choice of food. Highly recommended

Volterra is a beautiful city, and less "touristy" than other cities in Tuscany. After a day exploring, we walked into this restaurant without knowing anything about it. We had a great time and some very nice food. The antipasto was good with a wide variety of items. The lasagna was light and almost fluffy and the Zuppa al Volterrean was... More

We did not have grumpy waiter when we are here. On the contra, the guy who serve us is good with service. The food is decent.

We've been to this restaurant numerous times over the past 9 years. This will be the last time. We know that tomatoes are in season and our caprese had commercial grade tomatoes that weren't ripe. The cheese was very good. I ordered risotto which was tasty and for my last dish I ordered beans with olive oil. The beans were... More

Quite a pleasant place, although draughty with the door open. The menu was large and varied but the food was rather bland . The service was not particularly good although they were friendly, I think lack of experience or end of season. Not bad but just ok.

It is what it is… it's a tourist restaurant in a tourist trap, that serves average meals with distinctly average service, bordering grumpy and dis-engaged. 20 out of 69 in Volterra is a flattering result to be honest. To coin a phrase that has been used many times in reviews of the il Pozzo - The food wasn't exceptional, but... More

It looks like the average tourist restaurant that you wouldn't expect much from. But objectively speaking, we had a fine meal. The food wasn't exceptional, but it was by no means bad. Ingredients and preparation were good. The tirimisu definitely stands out on the menu. It's a close second to the one my grandmother makes! The owner of the restaurant... More

Went there for a bite to eat with the kids and greated by the grumpiest waiter who tried to con us by giving us a more expensive wine then we ordered. Thankfully I noticed this slight of hand gesture and had to ask him twice before he gave us the correct wine we had ordered which was €8 cheaper. His... More

Went there with family and friends. The food was just average, and it wasn't that cheap at all. Can't help thinking, that is seemed like a tourist-trap.

This is one of the friendliest, most relaxed restaurants we have ever eaten in. We have eaten in other restaurants in Volterra and sometimes been made to feel like just another tourist. That's not the case in this restaurant - the owner is a lovely man who goes out of his way to make his customers feel at home. The... More
