Welcoming and attentive staff and good food

We stopped here for lunch on a visit to Volerra. We had a simple lunch of pasta and pizza. Having been spoiled by great pizza in San Gimignano the pizza crust was less than that high standard, but good. The penne with asparagus was excellent. The bread was very fresh and wine good. Overall we had... read more

By accident we stopped at this place and we were extremely pleased with our dishes. The risotto with porccini mushrooms was very tasty and the tagliatelle with porccini and artichokes was amazing. A place that you should visit when in the area. Panna cota with caramel and forest fruit are wonderful. Trying not to order another one!!

We ate here in the summer and all four of us thought it was the best meal of our 11-day trip. Delicious, unpretentious Tuscan food at a decent price in a gorgeous hill town - what's not to like?

The environment is quite friendly and informal. the host is available for any suggestion both regarding food and Volterra. Wildboar (cinghiale alla maremmana) is OUTSTANDING! The red house wine is better than many other house wines and if you are a couple a half liter is just fine. Well located in Volterra downtown. Definetely worth a shot RECCOMMENDED

Volterra is a beautiful city, and less "touristy" than other cities in Tuscany. After a day exploring, we walked into this restaurant without knowing anything about it. We had a great time and some very nice food. The antipasto was good with a wide variety of items. The lasagna was light and almost fluffy and the Zuppa al Volterrean was... More

We did not have grumpy waiter when we are here. On the contra, the guy who serve us is good with service. The food is decent.

We've been to this restaurant numerous times over the past 9 years. This will be the last time. We know that tomatoes are in season and our caprese had commercial grade tomatoes that weren't ripe. The cheese was very good. I ordered risotto which was tasty and for my last dish I ordered beans with olive oil. The beans were... More

Quite a pleasant place, although draughty with the door open. The menu was large and varied but the food was rather bland . The service was not particularly good although they were friendly, I think lack of experience or end of season. Not bad but just ok.

It is what it is… it's a tourist restaurant in a tourist trap, that serves average meals with distinctly average service, bordering grumpy and dis-engaged. 20 out of 69 in Volterra is a flattering result to be honest. To coin a phrase that has been used many times in reviews of the il Pozzo - The food wasn't exceptional, but... More
