Fantastic food, friendly attentive staff and kids went off to the torture museum after lunch leaving adults to enjoy ambience. Highly recommended and can't understand any negative reviews.

Another review where I wish that I could give 3.5 stars. I can't rate Ombra Della Sera as "very good" because it wasn't. "Average" may be harsh, but there you have it. We were passing through Volterra as part of an Italian road-trip and wanted somewhere for a simple lunch. This place offered just that - we each had a... More

We had a nice lunch on the way to visit the Eutruscan museum. The homemade pasta with wild boar was especially nice.

We happened on this gem on our way to the Etruscan museum. Seafood soup was delicious with a delightful crisp wine. My friends had very good pasta.attentive service, nice linens on tables.

On a day trip to the hill region of western central Tuscany, our guide in Florence recommended we eat in Volterra, a small town, not overwhelmed by tourists. So glad we did. Just wandered by the inviting outdoor seating area of Ombra della Sera and settled in for a very enjoyable lunch. I had a vegetable soup, that was loaded... More

My wife and I just returned from a trip to italy where we were very fortunate to have eaten at this lovely restaurant in Volterra. As it was truffles season, the restaurant offered us a variety of dishes with frsh truffles in a quantity neither my wife nor I had seen before and at a reasonable cost. Adding to this... More

We had a decent lunch in this nice little restaurant in de center of Volterra. Great traditional tuscan recipes like, papa al pomodoro and zuppa di fagioli are their on the menu. Together with a nice selection of primi and secondi (meat and fish) the menu card is more than complete. Their Tiramisu is fabulous! The wine-list isn't very extended... More

We wandered in on a rainy night and stayed for 3 hours- it made our trip to Volterra. Server explained every course in great english, showed us the kitchen and insisted on the tiramisu, it was the best I ever ate! Wild boar pasta, rabbit, vegetable soup, local wine, all superb. We went back 2 days later for another meal.... More

You know the food is going to be good when the locals stop and tell you this is their favourite restaurant. We've been living and working on and off in Volterra for two years and this restaurant is always very friendly and happy to see us. Luca speaks brilliant English, so that's always easier. The owner Massimo is very welcoming... More

Difficult to chance on a "bullseye" with three to four hundred places to choose from. The frittata with black truffles was exquisite, the pappardelle al lepre definitely to be recommended and the Manager's advice as to wine nothing short of excellent. The Manager has worked in Leeds and Boisdale in London; he has superb wit which was the icing on... More
