Cheap Home Tuscan Cooking

I'm very happy I picked this place for my Volterra lunch because the food was clearly homecooked and tasted amazing! I was lucky enough to get fresh truffles on my bruschetta and the celery pesto on hand made ravioli was to die for!

Walking by in the morning the restaurant was preparing for lunch. We could not pass en walk by without asking what this increadible dish is which we were smelling in the street. They told us it was nothing special and it was just the base sauce they use for a lot of pasta's. After visiting the town we returned for... More

......The food was GREAT, but the two waitresses (and the owner) didn't treat us the way they were supposed to do. I mean, nothing especially obnoxious...just a bit of unfriendliness, which is always painful when you pay 90 Euro (3 people) not only to eat well but also to FEEL well. Maybe they didn't like our accent (we are from... More

This is the only restaurant we ate twice in our whole trip to Tuscany. The food is just amazing. Huge portions. And the staff is really, really love. Will go back for sure! :D

I feel that this place has got lazy and hiked the prices due to it's popularity on tripadvisor. The food was average to good but far too pricey for what it is. There were too many hidden charges when the bill arrived. They charged for 4 covers even though there were only 3 adults and a toddler. I asked for... More

Genuine Tuscan food served in a characteristic old building. The restaurant is located in a quiet street away from the crowd. We tried the antipasto, the strozzapreti al cinghiale and the tegamaccio di manzo prugne e zafferano. Everything was very freshly made and delicious. The portions were also generous. The service was quick and the waiters very polite. It was... More

This restaurant is a different experience to others in town as it offers medieval dishes and creative takes on traditional dishes. I very much liked my ravioli with celery-pesto!

We were warmly welcomed by staff eating just before 7pm in this traditional family run restaurant. The host spoke good English and proud that his teacher came from Newcastle. The food was delicious he recommended the antipasto which was your traditional selection of pates, meats, bread and cheese the flavours were delicious. Pasta with wild boar and another with Pork... We ate here for an evening meal just before 7pm. Welcomed in and offered to sit inside as the evening was a bit chilly. Food was very good. I had the Pici pasta with wild boar which was absolutely wonderful, the only shame is that I couldn't eat it all as it was a very generous portion size! My husband... More
