Expectations

Expect the food to be good. Expect to get a table this time of year. Expect the service to be slow and confusing. Expect someone to walk in after you, and be served first. Expect to spend at least 2 hours having lunch. In summary, a great place to eat, if you are not in a hurry and are a... read more

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation. The food was horrible and the service mediocre. My husband had the chiangale and it was like shoe leather - so tough he couldn't eat it. I had a filet mignon that was cooked beautifully but it was drowned in balsamic. It was so acidic that I gave it to my husband... More

I found this place's ribolita soup the best one in Tuscany! The rest of the food was just as good but ribolita is the first that comes to my mind.

A very pleasant restaurant with a large and varied menu. Their sea food antipasto is excellent. Service was efficient and professional. Certainly a place I would recommend. Reasonable value for money.

We visited Volterra, and were looking for a nice place to eat. It was a nice day, and decided to eat outside on the terrace (streetside). We were not disappointed at all. Very tasty and good value for money. Do try the Tuscan specialties, it tasted so good. The house wine was very good too, The servants were friendly.

Don Beto is located on a main pedestrian street in Volterra. It is fairly large and has a big menu. Food was good but not great. Service was efficient. The food was well prepared and the cost not unreasonable.

I have eaten all over Italy on many trips over many years and often for long stays.....in tiny villages and the big cities, in great restaurants and modest trattorias. My meal at this place qualifies as one of the worst. It was a Sunday evening when most places were closed, except for this one and a few others. The service... More

We hadn't booked but they happily accepted us at around 7.45pm, the restaurant wasn't full but having given us menus straightaway it was about 8.15pm when we eventually ordered both food and drinks. We all had starters and main courses all of which we're very good but by the time we ate them it was 10.30pm so we left without... More
