Excellent steak but dreadful waiters

We had a wonderful steak meal but the pasta left a lot to be desired. The lady who dealt with us had excellent English and excellent people skills but unfortunately when she went off shift the male waiters were unfriendly and unhelpful.

We were excited to find this place open, pre-dinner. Maybe that was the mistake here. We ordered off the truffle menu, and then it went bad. The rissotto came out looking like white rice that had been microwaved, and my saffron pasta was flavorless. The "chef" was in the back petting a dog, and the waiter was super slow. I... More

Without a doubt this is the best restaurantsin town! This restaurant should be in the top 10 in Volterra. Nice ambiance not too fancy and good food! A lot of locals eat here is my experience so a reservation would be advised,

We waited too long, the waiter forgot our table and when we finally got our food it was wrong pizzas. And it tasted bad. The carbonara was so salty that it was inedible. And there where no effort done to make retribution. The worst food experience in Italy so far. ( oh.... And the beer was warm....)

Lovely pasta of all sorts, as well as a wide range of tuscan food in general, but especially renowned for the truffle dishes. Lovely grub!

Asked a local for a good restaraunt and we were sent to Don Beta. The restaraunt was full of locals and for good reason. I had a great wild Boar Pasta and my wife had a mushroom pasta - amazing. Looking through some reveiws, I noticed most of the unfavaorable reviews were about the service. We went at about 2... More

As often happens with us, we arrive in a town and explore first. When we become hungry, it is likely between the traditional hours of lunch and dinner, so it is likely that most restaurants will be closed. We looked around and decided on Don Beta - lucky us! We shared a simple pizza to start, and then I had... More

We came over to have a lunch here accidentally on a short-term visit to Volterra. It took place in the beginning of March and Volterra hadn’t been inundated by tourists yet, thus trattorias were closed mostly. How we were surprised to found this place overcrowded by people so much that we hardly managed to find a free table. All of... More

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation. The food was horrible and the service mediocre. My husband had the chiangale and it was like shoe leather - so tough he couldn't eat it. I had a filet mignon that was cooked beautifully but it was drowned in balsamic. It was so acidic that I gave it to my husband... More

I found this place's ribolita soup the best one in Tuscany! The rest of the food was just as good but ribolita is the first that comes to my mind.
