This restaurant is one, that on a previous visit to Volterra had been recommended. We had tried to eat there, but it was fully booked. On our recent visit to Volterra we were pleased to get a table. We were seated with no menu, and left for 20mins before we managed to get the attention of a member of staff.... More

A very popular restaurant on one of the busy tourist streets. Tables are packed together outside and in but we still couldn't get one the first time we tried. Second time lucky we were presented with the menu. Not quite War and Peace but close. Alongside the pizzas a huge range of different pastas and sauces, fish options etc etc.... More

Very familiar place, the staff seems a family business. They are run all time, many guest. The food was good, I taste the wild boar pasta and steak as well. My wife eat ham, and pasta she was glad with them as well. Recommended place.

When we ordered she asked if we wanted beer. We repeatedly said "no". We got beers. Pizza was drenched in cheese. Service was unfriendly and slow. Do not come here.

During our recent trip to Volterra, our tour guide warned us about this place ... "good food, terrible service". So we entered Don Beta with that expectation, and instead received a overall good dinner with overall good service. My son and I both had different preparations of wild boar for our 'secondi' main course, and both were prepared perfectly. While... More

We ate here 4 times this year - when you find somewhere so good it's difficult to decide to go elsewhere. Risotto, steak, prosciutto, truffles, salads, wine - all perfect. If I could cook risotto like the Don Beta, I would open a restaurant in Shrewsbury! There are quite a lot of decent restaurants in Volterra but, wherever you eat,... More

They were not that busy when we arrived for dinner. We were given menus and then ignored. I finally had to find the server and say we would please like to order. Then a few more people came in and ordered and were served before we were.... We were not that impressed with the meals. The "Pacceri Gorgonzola" and "Gnocci... More

We had dinner here in a night when they were hosting a 13th birthday party for 30 downstairs. We and several of the parents of the party-goers ate upstairs. The food was wonderful and the slice of Italian life that we got to experience was even better!
