Tipical tuscan restaurant.

We decided for a restaurant outside of the old Volterra city, the location is very original, food very good tipical tuscan, the owner is very kind, every course is prepared by hand of his family. I suggest it for a good restaurant in good location and honest prices!

My wife found this place on chowhound. It's just outside Volterra. It was probably my favorite meal in Italy. Giancomo is a great, great guy. This is a restaurant that has been in his family for generations. His mother cooks the food, and it truly was like eating in his house. The food was comfort food at its finest. Everything... More

Don't confuse this with a similarly named restaurant inside the city walls. This one is a local favorite with good reason. Our hotel recommended it and we really enjoyed the local feel and the food is wonderful.

We had a good mean here, at the recommendation of the owner of our hotel. From the menu featuring lots of local specialties, we chose pappardelle with lepre (hare) sauce. Delicious! We shared a second course of grilled duck breast with radicchio. That too, was yummy, though a little tough. Dessert was a house-made fruit crostata. No complaints. Our waitress... More

Having read about this restuarant in Rick Steve's and also on Trip Advisor we thought we would like it and we were not disappointed. It is very popular, so reservations are recommended. The dinning room was filled with english speaking guest, the waiter barely spoke English yet somehow was able to serve everything just as everyone ordered, it was perfect.... More

We had a lovely meal with our family of four, including 2 children, 4 and 2. Park toward the back of the restaurant. Fantastic risotto ai funghi and casarecche di zucchini. The top two pasta events our our 2 week Italian trip. Side dishes were over-priced and a bit boring. The kids had a rigatoni pomodoro that was very good.... More

Fred Plotkin aside...Da Bado was beyond pricey..my main complaint....food well prepared and quite good..ambience tired and rough around the edges...service..local indifferent tap room style...came highly recommended but somehow given our spectacular experiences in Tuscany and Umbria I didn't have the same experience that others may have had.

Fred Plotkin makes another good recommendation (along with Rick Steves and Fodors). This trattoria, just a 10-15 minute walk from the Etruscan Museum is a great find. With three guidebooks recommending it, we were somewhat mystified as to why we had the place almost to ourselves for a late (1:45 pm) lunch. We had the zuppa Volterrana (you could eat... More

I was amazed that the place had no tourists at all! Very good food, and the service was excellent. We even asked for dishes that were not comprised in the menu and they were voluntary to prepare them for us! Not to miss it!
