Pane, paste e dolci fatti in casa

Very solid place to eat in the heart of Viterbo. Good appetizers, pasta dishes, and meats as well. The service was exceptional. Our waiter was Sardinian and had a real handle on social skills and restaurant etiquette. The price was decent and I would go back for a second meal. I guess that is the ultimate test.

This was our last evening in viterbo and having eaten well until now, we were hoping for a good meal. This was not to be. We started with antipasto misto. This was poor and dominated by vegetables in a tempura batter. The batter was heavy, tasteless and the vegetables inside were overwhelmed. My husband had a pizza which was OK... More

A bit radical chic, but special food, for a good price, good atmopshere. Not the typical turistica situation. Very good choice of wines.

Viterbo is a historical marvel that has been hit hard on the head by the Tempo di Crisi (economic crisis) with shops for rent at every turn. The places left seem to be left scrambling for the lowest common denominator and are not so inspiring. In this context, Vecchio Orologio is a special place indeed- offering well priced local dishes... More

I was hoping for more from this city centre restaurant after reading reviews. Although not expensive the pasta dishes we had were poor. I do not mind pasta being 'al dente' but not so one could hardly chew it!

We chse this restaurant without looking at any reviews, just that em followed a group of local young women from the car park. Made to feel very welcome from start to finish of the meal, which was excellent. The mixed bruschetta, the chicken with bacon and the rabbit with chestnuts and bacon were all amazing. The waiter told me the... More

We arrived in Viterbo from Rome on after a two hour "milk run" . The cost was only 5 Euros one way to Viterbo. We looked for a nice restaurant and were recommended Al Vecchio Orologio. It was a good choice. The interior is well appointed and the staff was welcoming and hospitable. I chose ravolio covered with cheese and... More

An excellent and very authentic antpasti plate, creative dishes that you aren't offered at every other corner, reasonably priced. Interesting location in medieval vaulted building.

Al Vecchio Orologio has wonderful food and service as well as a nice indoor atmosphere (a nice alternative to summer outdoor dining). A few steps from Piazza Erbe. Unlike the common overly bright lighting of Italy, the osteria dims the lights a bit and sets a nice mood. Nice interesting menu.

We dined there twice, once for pizza, one for osteria. Pizza crust was wonderful but let down (way down) by the sauce. Osteria was average at best.
