Once again TripAdvisor didn't let us down ... If in Viterbo Il Grottino is the lace to go. The decor is typical of the restaurant's name ... The little cave... The lighting and background music perfect. The service and the timing of the courses ... Excellent. and what about the food ... ? Hand written menu with a choice 6-7... More

We were disappointed in our meal at Il Grottino. One of our starters was poorly prepared (seriously raw pasta -- not al dente, but hard -- it would have been good if properly cooked), and one of our mains (osso buco) was simply unpleasant. We have just come back from a meal at Il Grottino. The restaurant deserves the highest accolade: We had two set menus, delicious and fantastic value at 23 euros plus one a la carte for Sunday lunch. We had the pasta with guanciale which was delicious and then the pork filet with rosemary and sage - delicious and excellent quality.... More

I had an amazing time in Il Grottino, which is located near the center of the lovely town of Viterbo. The food was the best I had in Italy, since it based on the traditional Italian dishes but had different kind of surprising "twists" to it. the price was fair and the service was great, as the owner speaks English... I only had a like a snack, gnocchi di patate with a pumpkin sauce. Dumplings were very nice, sauce a little oily. But still good. The price was very good, too, and even an English menu was available. Interiors of the place fine, standard, maybe a little overdone. Staff friendly, trying their best English. I dont think you can do... More
