Good but kind of surprised by the 2 michelin star rating

The Mrs and I are huge fans of the Principe di Piemonte hotel but we've never been blown away by their gourmet restaurant. It is based on the roof of the hotel and switches between being enclosed or having tabled arranged at the side of the rooftop pool. This time, we were sat next to the pool... read more

Too many tables booked for service, staff to busy to give customers the attention that a 2 star michelin restaurant should provide. We ordered the tasting menu and arrived at 8.00pm and did not get to leave the restaurant until 12.30am. The food was very nice but the long wait completely spoilt the night. Tables were set up on the... More

You know when a restaurant uses something that looks like truffle but has no taste to cover up for lack of talent ? And does not decant EUR110 2007 wine with sediment but says 'we do not decant wine in Italy' ! This is one of those places : avoid.

The food was mediocre, products fresh, service inexistent ... The only really amazing thing was the setzing on the fifht floor, at the pool at night overlooking Viateggio, the cooking was not worth the 2 stars Michellin...

I simply don't have enough superlatives. Everything was perfect. Rarely tasted such wonderful food. Beatifully presented, original with perfectly matched wines. Pricey but worth every penny. Dream of returning soon

This is one of those rare experiences, where every plate in a ten plate tasting menu (which turned out to be more like fourteen) was exceptional. The service is perfect, the wine list beautiful and more than reasonably priced, and the entire evening was a joy to experience.

My husband and I were staying in the Hotel Principe Piemonte during our honeymoon in Viareggio. As a treat, my husband booked us a table in the rooftop hotel and it was amazing. Neither of us are fussy eaters so we went for the tasting menu so that we could try some different dishes and we were certainly not disappointed.... More

Food - too expensive, very far from michelin rating, small portions (e.g. For main course €45 you will get 4 tiny pieces of lobster with shavings of raw carrots, pieces of pine apple and green leaf salad or 3 tiny slices of lamb with fat not Bering trimmed , starter €30 child size portion of pasta with few prawns -... Il Piccolo Principe is the fine dining restaurant in Grand Hotel Principe in Viareggio. The restaurant is situated on the roof of the hotel (with roll-up window curtains which could be raised in more clement weather) with a view of the pool and overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. Chef Guiseppe Mancino artfully blends the regional produce and oils with very fresh... More
