I was in Tropea for 2 weeks in October. We ate here twice. The pizza was amazing. The dough was incredible. The service was good considering how busy it was. Lots of locals eat here and other Italian tourists as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a little gem tucked away in a back street of tropea. The seating is part outside and part inside. They have the biggest wood fired pizza oven I have seen and certainly lives up to the high scores it has by all who experience a visit here. Open until end November - fabulous !

We have been at vecchio forno for dinner. I have been in many pizzeria in italy and abroad (I am italian but living abroad): I have eaten at vecchio forno definitely the worst pizza ever tasted. We have taken pizza margherita, focaccia with insalata di polipo and pizza with tropea red onions. We expected to receive pizzas but these were... More

We stumbled upon Vecchio Forno while meandering the back streets on a Tuesday night, many of the restaurants were closed or empty. This Pizzeria was very busy, so we decided to go. Initially we sat outside but it seemed like the more interesting atmosphere was inside so I asked for a table inside when one became available. We saw the... More

Chanced upon here looking for a good wood burning oven pizzeria and spoke to the owner as he prepared for the evening. Gets very busy at night so arrive early to get a nice table in one of the alleyways. Service from one young waiter was a bit surly but other than that excellent. Great selection of pizzas with local... More

we ordered two pizze, one quattro formaggi and a frutti del mare. both looked similar, not very big and slighty burnt. the taste was not too bad, but lets be honest, you are in Italy and you can expect a certain standard. the staff was not very friendly, I tried to order in Italian, but the waiter didnt let me... Wonderful to eat at this place and to enjoy the unique atmosphere at a very modest price. The home made sweets are also wonderful to enjoy. I'm highly satisfied.

We ate in Pizzeria Vecchio Forno on friday January 4. We had a pasta with porcini, a bistecca maiale, a pizza porcini and a insalata Tropeana. The taste was good, service very friendly. Later that evening, however we got sick and were throwing up all night, together with diarrhea. It isn't our habit to complain in public, but we couldn't... More

It all started with a recommendation from our gelato pal, Antonio @ Caffe del Corso. We wanted something cheap, cheerful and authentic in the pizza department for dinner that night. He immediately told us about Pizzeria Vecchio Forno. It was late afternoon and we thought we would wander back to our B&B via Antonio's directions to the pizzeria. We found... More
