Good food but slow service on a crowded Saturday night

We were fortunate that we are on Americano dining schedule and showed up minutes before main dinner opening at 8 pm. By 8:30 the indoor and courtyard areas were full (off season, so a local crowd)and the wait staff were stressed The back dining room lights were very bright -- too bright really... read more

Great menu and recommended by the owner of the B&B this was perfect Sunday night fate when most places are closed. Just off the Main Street this place was a carnivore delight and great pasta and pizzas.

The food and service were excellent. We enjoyed the areas local dishes with lamb kabobs. We found the atmosphere warm and prices very good.

Went with a group of about 12 on a rainy Sunday night and we ordered a variety of wood-fired pizzas and salads to share. So many different combinations on the menu, including many unfamiliar to us Americans. We ate way too much because we had to try everything! It was memorable.

Arrived at 8 pm (when they open) seated in outside courtyard, servers blasting Queen's Greatest Hits on the CD player. Hoping for something Italian or more soothing but as the restaurant filled up they eventually turned the volume down. A few large parties with hungry & loud children arrived. We shared a Caprese salad - served on a bed of... More

We had business to attend to at 7 pm so we took the recommendation of trip advisor. We went into the restaurant and had to wait a good 10 minutes before the only waiter asked us to come sit. It was cold so we sat inside. It took at least 15 to 20 minutes before the only waiter acknowledged us.... More

I don't care what Anthony Bourdain says, this is the best Caccio e pepe in Italy. Excellent antipasto and frankly, we didn't have anything we didn't like. We go at least once whenever in Sulmona.

A charming restaurant built into the walls of the town (hence the name), it was filled with locals (always a good sign!). It serves both excellent brick oven pizzas and full course meals. Strongly recommend the local "spaghetti a la chitarra." An excellent value as well -- dinner for 3 with bottle of wine 65 euros

The owner of our B&B recommended this place, so we went without reservations. It was sunday evening and hot, there was no place on the terrace so we ate inside, which is also a very nice area to sit. We had a delicious pizza and a local wine for a very small price. We made reservations for a table in... More

Pleasant outdoor seating does not make up for lumpy dried pasta and indifferent sauce. Cacio e pepe is your best bet for the first course. Arrosticini tougher than is usual but the grilled meat dish is tasty. The restaurant is geared to tourists but service lacks charm or efficiency. Small quantity of bread cannot be disguised by placing it in... More
