Great food but not great lighting

We wanted a reasonably priced meal in the area and this unpretentious little bakery and bistro just fitted the bill. It is popular as there are not a lot of good places locally we had to take a 8pm booking which was a bit late for the rest of our party who were not staying locally. There was live... read more

We were staying overnight at the Millcroft Inn and wanted to try something other than the Inn's restaurant. Ray's is just down the street from the Millcroft Inn. Menu is written on a blackboard. They are more than happy to talk about any the menu. They start you off with bread baked on site and olive tapenade. We also had... More

I have been to this place on many occasions for both lunch and dinner. It is very small restaurant so reservations are always recommended. I even reserved a table for lunch back in October for I know how busy they can get. It has a Bakery at the front where you can buy fresh breads, pastries etc. The restaurant seating... More

Discovered this bakery in Alton. Lunchtime food was fantastic with wide range of choices. Baked goods-to-go were delicious, too. Highly recommended.

This small Bistro/bakery is a lovely little restaurant in the Heart of Alton. The food is excellent. Reservations recommended. Don't forget to purchase the wonderful pastries on the way out.

We visited this restaurant 3 times in the space of a week. Great staff and food in a relaxing atmosphere. The lamb burger is spectacular. I've been craving it since we left town. My husband also enjoyed the beef burger and we loved the salads. The staff are very friendly. We'll return when next we are in the area.

I have never had a disappointing lunch or dinner at Ray's. While I agree that the service is a hit and miss, the very versatile food being served sure makes up for it.

Was at my favourite place for dinner recently and while the food remains outstanding, the service from the same server I have had before is terrible. As one reviewer stated - she needs to take up another profession. We were a group of 6 with two young kids (not ours), 7-9, who were well behaved and knew what they wanted... More

Had an excellent sandwich at Rays. It was a turkey, bacon on a cheese bun. The bread was very, very fresh and was a very filling lunch. Great value, pleasant place to eat, most enjoyable.

We are a regular visitor to this restaurant and have never had a bad meal ! we ate there Wednesday night. I agree with one of the reviews below, the server we had that night was terrible, and needs to take up another profession.
