We chose to eat at Taverna Toscana as it looked like the place where all the locals stopped for lunch. And now I can see why. I have eaten many, many times in Italy and I can honestly say this - the fresh pasta with wild boar sauce - may be the best pasta I have ever eaten! The pasta... More

Tuscan food is derived from the poor man's comfort food. However no matter how simple it can vary from excellent as in this husband and wife restaurant in Sansepolcro to the very ordinary. The restaurant looks small, and is, but is welcoming, informal and full of locals. One tourist couple came in after us with a 3 month baby in... More

This is a really pleasant family run no frills Taverna with a small menu and things get cooked for you, not hauled out of the deep freeze. Father seems to do the cooking which is strongly focused on really good meat - my fillet steak was delicious, pink and tender - and the waiting is done by mother and daughter.... More

Brilliant lunch - unpretentious, freshly cooked and delicious. The pasta was fresh - the wild boar sauce excellent. Friends had the the very filling ribollita. Lots of local Italians all enjoying lunch. Does not look much from the outside but don't let that put you off.

Nice place, but small tables. Interesting price concept. Food was just horrible. Tagliata overdone, prepared without salt or spices, covered by half an inch of oil. Side orders fagioli: smell of garlic saussage instead of tomato sauce. Spinace: a joke, dry , burnt, uneatable. Wine choice given was red or white. Red wine ok, rather cheap.

We were recommended to go hear for the Fiorentina steak. As you go around the local area you see the white cows in the fields. It was the end of a long day and as it had been recommended we didn't check TA. Carelessly we ordered a steak each. One is more than enough to share unless you are Desperate... More

Enjoyed the food very much. The staff were friendly and helpful. The wild boar sauce made a nice change from Bolognese type sauces.

Bistecca Fiorentina was recommended to me and it did not fail to impress. Large steak for two on the bone, good value too. Service was adequate, as expected, and as mentioned good value.

They were very accommodating when I just wanted a sandwich at lunchtime and even served my salad with the pasta! Not very Italian but just what I wanted.

We arrived and we had booked the day earlier and they wouldn't give us a table as we had waited for almost an hour and then another family came along an hour after we arrived and gave the table to them because they had booked a few hours earlier. So we left and went to the Osteria dei Poeti instead... More
