Worst pizza in town! Junk food, expensive (5 euros for a 0,4 lt. draught beer!), dirty toilets, smelling room. Stay away! Stefano, Reggio Emilia

Sotto Broletto is a very welcoming warm restaurant tucked away under the portico of Sotto Broletto. The menu is full of local specialities and the service friendly and helpful. After a wander in the cold air through the markets it is a welcome retreat.

At first look the restaurant looks a bit stale but when you enter, you are greeted by a happy pizza maker and a friendly host. I decided to order the pasta arrabiata ("arrabiata" meaning "angry") "very angry" and the chef came out of the kitchen looking for the customer who had placed this order. When I identified myself she smiled... More

This was such a wonderful place to eat! I traveled to Reggio Emilia, Italy this summer and this became one of our regular places to eat! We loved the outside seating on the sidewalk and the friendliness of the chef and waiters. The ravioli with gorgonzola was my favorite dish in all of Italy!!! -North Carolina

The menu offers Emilian specialities, and a southern Italian bias in other areas - pastas, fish, meat. Opted for Siciliana pizza which was decently thin and satisfactorily topped. With a birra media apiece, cafe and a deliciously light home-made tiramisu it came to 20euro each. Tables outside in the covered pedestrian area was avoided as a strong breeze was blowing... More

One of the challenges for some travelers in Italy is to find a restaurant that opens earlier than the typical 7:30 or 8:00 pm. We wandered the streets of Reggio Emilia hoping to find a bite to eat at 6:00 after a long day on the train. Sotto Broletto was perfect. While from the outside, it may look like it... More

Nice little busy spot for people watching whilst you eat, with good basics. Avoid the more complicated mains which we found to be of average quality, but the pasta and pizza dishes were very good. Service was friendly and efficient enough, but you do pay a little extra for the location. I would have awarded the place more than the... More

Located just off the main piazza, Piazza Prampolini, this is a perfect stop for lunch or dinner while visiting Reggio Emilia. You can eat inside or out front under a nice arcade. The menu includes a wide variety of pizzas, tasty calzone, pastas, entrees, salads and more. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is consistently fresh and... More
