Not "fine" dining, but just FINE

The Reggio Emilia go-to place. Mostly locals, all Italian, families, businessmen, working men, groups. The many meats-from-the-carrello puts Lawry's prime rib cart in the shade. Pastas are also VERY good.

Made welcome, salads prepared from trolley for you but the best is the trolley of meats, all beautifully cooked. Wine was Lambrusco, of course. Lots of locals, but we were made welcome and every effort was made to overcome language barrier and explain it to us.

I visit every other year and never miss a chance to have lunch at Canossa. I've come on hectic weekends and quiet weekdays. It doesn't matter, the service is always kind, straightforward and unhurried but prompt. The food is made by grandmas in the kitchen and served by uncles in the dining room. Today I had tortelli verde and selections... More

This is the authentic Restaurant for Emilia and Italy's cuisine. The food is genuine, the taste a sensation to your buds and the service is just magnificent. When you order, the waiter suggests to you the correct combination of food, right wine which is mainly the local Lambrusco and all is served quickly and with the due courtesy. If you... More

Good decor. The food is just excellent in all aspects, especially for somebody born in this part of the world. The service is friendly and prompt. You can order food that is not on the menu and will be well served. Pricing is reasonable but for me personally I would be happy to pay much more for the quality offered.... More

Went for lunch after asking a local where to eat. Nice place, kind and knowledgeable waiters. We got the three-different pasta for a first dish and the tortelli zucca (like a ravoli stuffed with pumpkin) was very tasty. Then they had a cart of different meats or things from the grill. One caution, when you ask for wine, they brought... More

Just steps from our hotel in Reggio Emilia, it was recommended we try their dinner specialty... slow roasted variety of meat. The waiter brought the meat cart to our table and served us to our liking all sorts of meat cuts. The food was classic Italian... DELICIOUS... I loved the different sauces they served with the meat. But one thing... More

We arrived at 6.30 to find it closed!?😢 Thinking it being a Monday, we would miss out? But the Nonna came to the door and explained (in Italian) they open 7.30. We returned and were first seated. Lambrusco and mixed meat selection for 2. We had heard about the meat cart. I ordered this, my wife wanted pasta and mushrooms.... More

When we asked our hotel for their recommendation for a "real" Italian meal, they had no hesitation in suggestin Canossa. The shop front is quite unassuming and once you step inside it felt like I was walking into a very large Italian family dinning room! It was very busy but we where lucky as there was one table left. As... More
