Great Experience

This was quite an experience. The owner/chef gave us great wine pairings with a delicious meal. We both had the seafood and couldn't be happier with the friendly service. The restaurant is small so you should call for a reservation in the high season.

We've stumbled upon Vivaro on a chance, and it was a great one! The food was nothing short than amazing. And there was a lot of it. There is no menu. Before you start the chef asks you what you like, and if you have any allergies, and that's it. You are set to a full Italian meal carefully prepared... More

Tiny little bar and restaurant run by an amiable host who does EVERYTHING so a little patience is required but is handsomely rewarded with excellent food. We visited several times in June 2012 (this date not available on the Trip Advisor drop down menu). There is no menu, Genaro simply asks what you want and prepares every dish to order.... More

We arrived early so were able to talk to the owner/cook/barman which was lovely as it was not too busy. This place is tiny, but the service was fantastic and yes you get asked do you want meat of seafood and red or white wine. We went the seafood and it was fantastic. A white was selected for us that... More

My wife and I unfortunately waited until our last night in Praiano to eat here, and it really was the grand finale of our cuisine on the Amalfi coast. Although without the picturesque balconies some of the other restaurants boast in Praiano, Vivaro's wine bar is an authentic experience that chef/owner/server clearly prides himself on. You will eat until your... More

Vivaro's is a very informal place to eat an is a one man band show, so if you are in a hurry then don't go. There is no menu and your food is freshly cooked. We had a seafood pasta for starters followed by fresh fish with rocket salad all washed down with a lovely local white wine. Desert was... More

I don't understand any of the negative reviews. This restaurant is what it is - a one man band where he cooks, serves and chats. If you are a total pain and treat it like a normal restaurant he'll probably not be particularly warm to you but if you go with the flow and wait to be served, enjoy the... More

At Vivaro you will find excellent food with local flavor. This is not the place if you prefer a restaurant in the classic meaning. Owner chef G. cooks his own style and he does it very well. We had very good fish, excellent sea food spaghetti and the best pasta alla ragu ever (and we do eat pasta weekly). Do... More

We had a reservation on a busy night, so maybe that is why, but we were not treated with particular warmth. My husband ordered meat but was given a half order of meat pasta and a half order of seafood pasta... an issue for him because the seafood in the shells grossed him out. Certainly an interesting experience and the... More

My friend and I discovered Vivaro mid way through our week in Praiano and visited again on our last night. Great food, wine and atmosphere in the capable hands of our host. A place to relax and wait for the surprises to keep on coming.
