My husband and I ventured up the hill of Positano to this little trattoria on rhevrecommendation of a friend and a Gourmet Traveller article. The recommendations were all spot on! We enjoyed a three course dinner with wine for under 40 euros which included stuffed smoked mozarella, margherita pizza, gnocchi and linguine with a whole baked fish, how we walked... More

Food is ok, service tacky...verging on sleazy...but worst of all after 6 weeks of travelling this restaurant is full of English speaking tourists and tourist focused service and food. Sadly the least authentic experience of our entire holiday, may as well have eaten at our local Italian restaurant back home. It may just be that Positano is rapidly becoming one... More

Once upon a time, we sat on the sun drenched terrace of this simple restaurant. With the road and rockface of the Amalfi coast in front of us as view, a glorious sight with the sea, and boisterous laughter coming from the Italian family sitting at the next table, I had finally found the dining experience that I had come... Great food cooked by the owner's family, service excellent with the Frederico suggesting some amazing dishes. The seafood soup - with a light fresh tomato base was sensational with whole fish, prawns, local fish, cockles, mussels & calamari. Stuffed zucchini flowers filled with ricotta were delicious, the tuna steak with balsamic was cooked perfectly, with fresh crusty home baked bread.... More

Evening started well with a free shuttle service from our hotel (Marincanto) to C'era una Volta. Frederico suggested some great starters all very tasty, including prawn gratin, stuffed crumbed anchovies and stuffed zucchini flowers. The four of us all had different main courses and once again very good food, from the seared tuna steak in balsamic, to fish soup, homemade... More

My husband and I ate here on August 3rd for dinner. We walked from the downtown area of Positano and it took us about thirty minutes to get to the restaurant. It is slightly out of the way, but the prices were good and the pizza was excellent. The house wine was prepared and served with sliced peaches in it... More

My husband and I left it for the server to suggest what we should have for dinner: house wine with a couple of simple and traditional dishes. Nothing like the big fancy restaurants near the beach but they were good enough and from I heard from the locals, they resemble more what locals eat, rather than tourists expect. It was... More

Ever had that shameful feeling because you gave into peer pressure? Reviews of this place on trip advisor saying that the meals here were the best people had had during their entire trip in Italy made me feel very sad for these people by the end of the night. It's not where the locals go. Sorry. It has a van... More

It was our last night in Positano, and we wanted it to be special. Our innkeeper recommended C'era una Volta. We were a bit underwhelmed when we first walked in. It was a tiny restaurant with only about 8 tables, all filled with locals except for one small table. We were too tired and hungry to try to find another... More
