Busy, well known spot

Very good food in a restaurant tucked away above Positano. They clearly have lots of visitors and this may have taken their edge off a little in terms of ambience.

Donna rosa located in the village of montepertuso. you'll have to take a bus or taxi or climb 1300 stairs (1000 feet elevation) to get to it. we stayed in the village (lovely place and much better than positano for two week holiday for me and my husband) so it was an easy walk. the restaurant is nicely decorated, and... I guess I got carried away with the review in the Lonely Planet and fell for the fact Jamie Oliver had eaten here on his honey moon and he had worked and trained with the chef in London so my expectations were high. The whole evening was such a disappointment.... the atmosphere was stuffy and dull in a dining room... More

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Posh Italian would best describe the food with very good wine. Although above Positano in Montepertuso, transport between the two is arranged.

How do you get from being a humble local village trattoria to being a fine dining restaurant ? Sell your supposedly authentic Italian food at extortionate prices to gullible Americans , that's how ! Now you can add some wines priced over £300 a bottle and you've arrived! And how can you associate ' authentic Italian food ' as 'nonna'... More

We spent a fabulous 7 days in The Amalfi Coast and after 6 fantastic dinners, Donna Rosa was by far the best. The food was authentic, homemade and family run. Mama Rosa cooks in an open kitchen and appeared to put her heart and sole into each dish. Exactly what we were looking for.

We were picked up with two other American couples in Positano for the ride up to this restaurant and quickly realized that this place has done a great job marketing to Americans, who were the restaurant's only patrons. There were books by Mario Batali and Ina Garten on display in the restaurant and the servers had great control of English.... More

One of the best, if not best places in Positano Region! Rosita is a fabulous host! The cuisine is especially excellent. The care of the staff, the chef Erica in the kitchen is second to none. My wife has food allergies and they are immediately noted and remembered each visit even after a year!! The Black and White pasta is... More

We happened upon this restaurant while trying to find our apartment in Montepertuso and I'm so happy we did! We had driven from San Gimignano to Montepertuso, which is approximately a 5.5 hour drive. When we arrived, we missed the turn to our apartment and ended going through Positano...on a Sunday...during the summer...on very narrow and crowded streets. When we... More

This restaurant was very pretty and clean, we had an amazing meal. But it was more expensive than we expected. We had a great time and would recommend a trip. We stayed in Positano so the restaurant sent a complimentary van to come pick us up from our hotel, and then dropped us back off after the meal. The family... More
