We had been referred to two other restaurants by locals but after finding both of them closed on Wednesday, chose Ristorante del Cocco because the menu looked typical Umbrian and the prices reasonable. Our waiter wasn't the nicest, and tried to tell us we didn't need olive oil when we asked for it, saying the salad was already dressed, no... More

We stopped here for lunch when visiting Orvieto. We were looking for places that offer seafood, and this was one of the few alternatives that we were able to find. The menu looked promising so we decided to give it a shot. However, the food was tasteless and overall the place was a big disappointment. Seafood risotto, risotto with squid... More

Lost in Orvieto, where it's almost impossible to find fish/ seafood dishes, we decided to stop at this restaurant because it was practically the only option. So, I ordered "risotto di calamari e gamberoni", aka squid and prawn risotto, and I got this way too cooked and untasteful risotto, way too liquid, with micro pieces of calamari and 1 prawn.... More

We dined at Il Cocco on the recommendation of our B&B owner. The restaurant is located on a quiet street right off a large piazza. The food was fresh and excellent. They specialize in local dishes and have an excellent, reasonably priced wine list. The service is good and they are happy to explain the menu in English. I loved... More

Happened upon this venue in our wanders. Antipasto plate to share was tasty with good variety. Main meals very delicious- tender and tasty. Waiter was excellent- we couldn't speak Italian, he unable to speak English but able to convey choices and advise as what to order. Highly recommend in a quiet surrounding with excellent service.

This was the first restaurant we tried in Orvieto, staying there for a week. We have chosen it because it was full with only Italian people , mostly locals. And of course this is the best way to choose a restaurant in another country. Lovely dishes, a good menu-list. Enough choices. And if you want something that is not on... More

Had dinner at Il Cocco last night, 5/25/14 and enjoyed everything: minestrone, melone and proscuitto, truffle tagliatelle, chicken breast with white truffle sauce, limone gelato. Well served by an English-conversant waiter. We highly recommend this restaurant and the local wines they serve.

It was a great piece of luck to happen upon Cocco while we were walking through Orvieto centro. We sat outside under the awning and had a very tasty lunch of pasta and scaloppine with local wine. It was just perfect for a rainy day.
