Typical food of Orvieto

This was our first meal in Orvieto and it was delicious. The tagliatelle with chinghalle as well as the wild boar stew was wonderful. Excellent service and very good house wine.

We visited La Palomba on the recommendation of where we were staying and very happy with the choice. Nice atmosphere, very efficient service, no issue that we didn't have a reservation and no problem with English. We shared an antipasto plate followed by wild board ragu tagliatelle each and blueberry panacotta for desert. Nice bottle of wine and total 58... More

This highly recommended restaurant did not live up to expectations, or other meals we enjoyed in town. It was busy, friendly, and clearly a local favorite. That said, we felt slighted compared to the locals: Had to ask for olive oil, and were served a variety with little flavor, in a bottle with a different label from locals at adjacent... More

While in Rome and Umbria, we thought our best meal was at Trattoria La Palomba. It was recommended by Rick Steves and our host at our B&B. Perhaps our favorite part of the meal was when the truffles were grated at the table on our pasta dish. You can't get it any fresher and the pasta was delicious! We also... More

Exploring the streets of Orvieto we found this tucked away in a side street. Inside it is what you expect of a busy family run business and the vibe was good. Service was prompt and we noticed how busy the staff were. At last we got to try the wild boar and pasta which was out of this world. All... More

Trattoria La Palomba is a lovely, friendly restaurant serving delicious traditional food. It is so popular for many reasons, but it is recommended to have a reservation. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. My husband and I both had a filleto of beef with different sauces (his the pepe verde and mine a creamy nettle sauce) and both were delicious... More

... which all mounts up and makes La Polumba much more expensive than the many restaurants of similar quality in town. The approach is rustic and main dishes are fine (nothing more), with beef sprinkled with truffle shavings popular among one-off visitors. Pigeon and lamb are char-grilled and though we did not order it, the former looked blackened as it... More

Excellent food- way more flavour than a lot of the Rome restaurants we have been to. Staff was professional and friendly. All round great experience and Orvieto is not to be missed!

We had the best meal of our May 2014 visit to Italy at La Palomba in Orvieto, a family-run trattoria that uses local ingredients. We were fortunate to be able to eat here as we hadn't made a reservation but we stopped by before it opened for lunch and were given the one remaining table for two. The food was... More
