Best restaurant and also gluten-free.

What a find! Traditional Umbrian cuisine with many gluten-free options. We dined out on the deck and enjoyed a long summer evening in Orvieto. This was my second time in Antica Cantina, and it gets better every time. the food is amazing, especially the pasta with black tartufo, the wine is good (white and red), the dessert are delicious and the service is so good and welcome (the owner is so nice).

Nearly all the dishes can be produced without gluten. Better yet, on hearing that one of us was allergic to maize and intolerant of lactose, they produced dishes that caused no problems, and were delicious too. As for the ham hock my wife ate, I can only say that it must have come from a well-fed specimen. The Empress of... More

I rarely eat out because of my food allergies. I found great reviews and decided to be brave and go out for more than just a salad. We found Antica Cantina and I enjoyed a three course meal thoroughly. 70% of the menu was clearly marked as gluten-green. My husband and I shared each course and it was plenty of... More

A bit of a walk from the center of town but worth it. The menu is a great mix of local Orvieto specialities. The Umbrichelli and Tortellacci with black ink were both fantastic. It's the first place we've ever had truffle. The owner actually brought one out to us and told us about them. She was very nice and quite... More

We contacted and booked this restaurant before leaving Melbourne as it is the only certified gluten free eatery in Orvieto. They were so helpful. The coeliac member of our party had a choice of pastas with a variety of sauces, gluten free breads and wonderful mixed bruschettas. The non coeliac members of the party enjoyed a range of tasty meals... More

First I have to thank the other reviewers who wrote about the gluten free food in that restaurant. Now when the enemy (gluten) is out of the way (marked menu - including today's specials) the fun can start. And fun it was. Tartofu crostini, ragu with pasta, quail, and rice tart for desert. All dishes were well executed, and were... More

With one of us being a coeliac, we were delighted to see a menu with all the gluten-free options clearly marked, and in fact most things on the menu were so marked. I actually had one of the non-gluten-free starters - pumpkin flower fritters stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies, which was delicious. My husband was given gluten-free bread and was... More

We ate here several times while spending a week in Orvieto, which I think says a lot. The atmosphere was very nice and I enjoyed seeing the historic pictures of Orvieto on the walls. I enjoyed the fried Zucchini flowers which were in season while I was there, and also had the Orvichelli (spelling?-local pasta of Orvieto...larger than spaghetti but... More

The owner speaks very good English and is a wonderful host. The menu is typical but everything is done with a light touch, and is delicious. They often have carciofi guidica (Jewish style artichokes)--when it's available it's a must have! A local favorite--and deservingly so.
