This is one of the most charming restaurants we have eaten at in Italy. We arrived in Orvieto planning to eat at Trattoria Grotto, but it was closed on Tuesdays. The wonderful people at our hotel, Hotel Duomo, quickly searched to find someplace else to accommodate us and recommended Antica Cantina. We did not find it in our own gluten-free... More

The food and service at this small osteria were exceptional. We both enjoyed the pear capaccio and I had the umbricelli with sausage and truffles. This was one of my favorite meals on our entire trip. Outstanding!

Antica cantina is one of the few places in Orvieto with tables outside in a quite piazza, which is a big plus. Inside has plenty of light and tasteful decor; another rareity in Orvieto. The menu takes traditional receipes and works on them to create master chef level dishes. However, there are no chefs only cooks as Antica Cantina is... More

My wife and I each had a wonderful meal in this very cozy resturant. The waitress was very attendant and took especial care to satisfy my wife's gluten issues. And the price was very reasonable. We'd definitely return.

Boutique restaurant, nicely decorated, whose hostess is one of the owners. She is very knowledgable and helpful. Except for beef from Argentina, everything is local and fresh. Entrees of umbrichelli and truffle sauce and spaghetti with red sauce were very good. The "summer snack" appetizer of tomato, mozzarella and basil with shredded lettuce was fabulous with lots of the house... More

Antica Cantina in Orvieto, Italy This mountain top city is typical of many in this region of Italy and for us it was a break in the long drive from Lucca to Frascoti. in Orvieto we decided we would hunt down a local place and we stumbled upon Antica Cantina and we greeted in English by a very pleasant woman... We loved our pasta with black truffles, saffron pasta, chicken, and don't forget the tiramisu! Super friendly and warm staff.

Our train had been delayed so we arrived in Orvieto late; not knowing the layout of the town, we wandered down the main street and found this little place. There was only one other patron who was finishing his meal, but the staff did not bat an eyelid when we asked if we could still get a meal. We thoroughly... More

Cold and tired, we arrived to find the most friendly and helpful staff one could wish for, an appetising menu, real home cooking and excellent wine suggestions. It was a comforting place to be on a chilly, windy evening and more than lived up to expectations. The food was very good indeed and though the menu was reassuringly short, the... More

This restaurant is on the main street through the centre of Orvieto in the newer part of the town. It is a fairly standard Italian restaurant inside. We had a very good welcome and polite service. The menu provided very interesting possibilities, and we found the cooking to be excellent. It was very good value - well worth visiting!
