Orvieto is my favorite town in Italy, and Trattoria dell'Orso is my favorite restaurant. Ciro is always friendly and the food is always amazing. As everyone else has said, there are no menus, you eat what they're cooking - which adds to the charm and the 'Italian-ness' of it. It can get to be a little pricey as the courses/and... More

We visited Trattoria dell'Orso recently, after finding the recommendation in our Rick Steves' guide. I have to say, this was one of the best meals we had in Italy! We each had the taster menu, and everything was amazing. The brushetta, the pastas, the chicken, the salad, the stuffed zucchini... all so flavorful and fresh! I was a little disappointed... More

We just stumbled on this little gem in a little side street in Orvieto at the beginning of January (no tourists, many hotels and restaurants closed) and thought it looked nice for lunch. And nice it was. We ended up being the only ones in the restaurant, which might suggest to some that this is not a popular place. They'd... More

Dinner with Gabrielle and Ciro was one of the highlights of our vacation. The pasta with truffles was fabulous as was the rabbit. We had the restaurant to ourselves and we felt like guests in someone's home. Gabrielle and Ciro sat and talked with us and entertained us with stories of Orvieto. What a fun evening! No visit to Orvieto... More

Our party of four stopped here for lunch. We did not have the same experience as others. We were only wanting a light bite, and found the lack of menu troublesome. When we asked, we were given one. It seems from other reviews that one should go there with no expectations and let the proprietors feed you at their will.... More

These two older gentlemen (Ciro and Gabriele) have a fantastic restaurant. No written menu (there is a menu listing outside in the window though); they explain to you the evenings fare. You will not be disappointed. Never turn down a pasta dish with truffles in Umbria. Share the pasta dish and leave room for the main course. My wife had... More

This is one of the best restaurants I had eaten in Tuscany (Italy) this summer on my holidays trip I made by motorbike this year. I saw it in Lonely planet guide I bought for this trip. I recomend you at all. Have a good meal oh yeah!

My wife and I visited Orvieto for 3 days at the end of August 2013. On our first night in Orvieto we found our way to Trattoria dell'Orso after getting directions from a couple of local store owners in the Piazza Republica. When we found the restaurant the door was closed so we knocked and one of the owners (Ciro)... More

There is no outside dining here, only 2 small rooms typically Italian family style. We were greeted by Ciro who told us the menu for the evening. No menus here. My wife choose a half portion of fettuccine with mushrooms and black truffle sauce and I the fettuccine with octopus sauce. Washed down with a carafe of Orvieto white wine.... More
