This is where the locals get their carbonara fix. All the pastas and salads are first rate, but the carbonara is exceptional. I also love the ambience of a converted cantina. Great place run by great people.

We ate here early in May as we headed south to Puglia. On our return trip north we looked forward to our stay in Orvieto so we could visit Mezza Luna again for the pasta. I'm sure the restaurant is loaded with tourists during the summer, but in the 'off season' it appears to be 'locals only'.

Yeah, the carbonara was worth overlooking everything else on the menu for. Seriously, I don't know what it is that they do with it but it was that good. We went for lunch so that we could avoid the crowds talked about in these reviews.

Great atmosphere and food.- welcoming staff and good selection of food and wine. Clean bathroom. Maybe too many steps for some.

Signature dish: Spaghetti alla carbonara ! Highly recommended! 100 words is must for a review, sigh. Still not 100 words yet, how to get to 100 words?!

An italian we know recommended this place for the carbonara he had eaten there and then we discovered that it is famous for this very dish! Atmosphere was lovely, with a party of locals dining as well. Carbonara was spectacular and we also enjoyed wine and veal as a second course. At lunch when we stopped in to make a... More

We had a great lunch here on a windy, cold Tuesday in November. We were the only non-Italian speakers in the restaurant which is always great news. We shared the carbonara and loved it unlike some other reviews. We each had a second course of veal. One with lemon and one with mushrooms and shared a salad. All were delicious.... More

We had dinner at Mezza Luna. We were told that the spaghetti carbonara was the specialty of the house. It was awful, tasting very greasy. Most of the clientele were tourists, which tells you something. If you want cheap filling food, then frequent this tourist trap.

Spaghetti Carbonara is the speciality here. But the food in general is good here and the prices exceptional. The restaurant is not where the tourists are are in the middle of Orvieto. But once found you will be rewarded. When we entered the restaurant at 13.00 Hrs the restaurant was packed and we got the last table. A family run... More

We had lunch at Mezza Luna one very wet day. Luckily, we arrived early, it soon filled up with locals and a few tourists. You could tell the tourists because they got menus to browse, supplied by the rather gruff waiter. The locals, mostly working men, sat down, had a joke with the same, now less gruff, waiter and immediately... More
