Outstanding lunch

Hospitality in this part of Italy is even more sacred than elsewhere - food is generally good and hearty, and people are friendly; exceptionally so at this small family run Osteria a few steps from the magnificent Duomo of Orvieto. We were treated to a selection of innovative takes on traditional dishes served with flair and wisdom. The thinly sliced... More

We rolled in to Orvieto on a cold rainy Saturday. After perusing our different restaurant options, we opted for La Pergola. It is a quant little trattoria beautifully adorned with wood carvings of local craftsmen. We were the first to arrive but it did not take long for the place to fill up and for the waitress to hang a... More

After a very disappointed lunch in a fake typical trattoria the day before we had a terrific lunch here with plenty of local dishes and wine. The food was perfect and the service also. Full of local people it recommended 100%

We just managed to sneak into this restaurant before all of the night's reservations started arriving and were we ever lucky! The food was exceptionally good with generous portions, dishes unique to the region and well-priced wines. My husband had the gnocchi, which was out of this world, and I had the spaghetti all'amatriciana, which is now the amatriciana I... More

La Pergola was recommended by the owner of the B&B where we were staying as we had requested a suggestion for a restaurant where we could get authentic local cuisine. He made a reservation for us and we were one of the first diners in as we were famished. We were seated outside on a covered terrace. This was very... More

Great place recommended by the manager of the locanda we stayed in nearby. we were 12 people including 2 young children, but the restaurant didn't bat an eyelid and we ate really well in a lovely setting.

We first ate at La Pergola during an enjoyable day trip from Rome in 2010 and our delicious lunch was among the reasons we decided that Orvieto deserved a much longer stay. When we arrived at the beginning of October 2014 for a month-long visit, it was the first restaurant reservation we requested. The owners of our rental apartment explained... More

Our hotel owners recommended this place for dinner and also told us that we must have reservations. We were unable to phone the restaurant so went at 7:30 pm when the doors opened. We were fortunate that there was a table, as people were turned away while we enjoyed our dinner. There is a 2 Euro cover charge per person... More

This was perhaps one of the best meals we had while in Italy for two weeks. It's small and romantic and we would never have found it if it weren't for our local Orvieto guide who recommended it to us as a real locals restaurant. Definitely a must for anyone looking to get away from the touristy italian places in... More

Great restaurant hidden behind a deceptive frontage, up an alleyway. Tables outside (undercover) in a lovely garden where smokers are confined to an out-of-the-way spot in the garden! Fresh home-made pasta dishes are wonderful, the staff are excellent and the service is very good too.
