Authentic Umbrian cuisine with friendly service and a cheerful atmosphere

Down a charming side-street in the old mediaeval centre of Orvieto is this jolly little trattoria,. We ate in the veranda, with trailing plants overhead. The home-made pasta with a sauce of duck ragu made a good first course. My companion had the tagliatelle with porcini pushrooms and truffle. Both... read more

We arrived on 10 august in a torrential downpour. The loss of the view on the drive up to Orvieto was well and truly compensated for by our visit to La Pergola for lunch. My meal started with the best carpaccio I have eaten anywhere. The service was both friendly and helful. An excellent meal all round.

Went here on our first night in Orvieto with friends. The night before it was booked out so we felt it must quite a nice place. It was relatively quiet and relaxed when we were there. We ordered a couple of nice bottles of wine and some prosecco, all of which were delicious. For dinner I had gnocchi and shared... More

We were wandering after Mass and were drawn to La Pergola because of the fresh ingredients on the menu. The antipasti appetizer introduced us to local cured meats, including smoked breast of goose. The homemade pasta featured a sauce with truffles (of course, it's Umbria) and squash blossoms. We tried two deserts -- a nice tiramisu and then a recommendation... More

We were recommended this restaurant by a fellow walker and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and we had 1/2 L of Orvieto wine (for 6 Euros) which was just the right amount. On the second night, as we hadn't booked, we ate in the covered area at the rear which even in spite of the rain was... More

We had a nice dinner here. Ambiente was good and enjoyed back patio in the heart of medieval Orvieto listening to the wheeling swallows overhead.

We've been there twice now as the tagliatelle with duck was delicious. But tonight two of us ordered beef and it was inedible it was so tough. We didn't complain.. just left it on the plate but no query from the waitress. Pity as the restaurant has a nice feeling with great staff.

I regret to say that I am submitting this review some days after eating here, and do not remember for sure what we ordered. However, I do remember that we enjoyed it thoroughly and want to give it 2 thumbs up. The and service were both 4.0s, and the house wine (an Orvieto white) I do remember...it was exceptionaly good.

In the heart of orvieto is a quaint restaurant with a nice balance of food and wine. We shared a mixed anti pasta, duck ragu tagliatelle and a slow cooked cingale or wild boar dish topped off by cheese cake and wild berries. All very tasty with a tad too much salt for my taste. All very reasonably priced, quick... More

An OK dinner but nothing spectacular compared to other meals we had in the area. As mentioned elsewhere, we had the house wine which was below par.
